DIGITAL STRIP SEARCH

government's working on passing an act that, if you have illegal content (ie, downloaded mp3's) on your laptop or mp3 player, the airport security can search, confiscate, and even destroy your property

CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN
This has been going on for a while at border crossing fyi. I would not worry about it, its really for anything that is pornographic(Child porn Oh noes!!). as long as you are encrypted its impossible for anyone to know the difference from just looking at it. It's not a big deal because I doubt they are going to ask every person with a laptop anyways. Believe me this has been going on at border crossings for at least a year now and ive yet to hear a story of anyone being searched yet alone caught.
uh, they've caught several people with kiddie porn on their laptops and thumbdrives in customs since they started doing this...

Not that I agree with illegal search and seizure, mind you.  I doubt they'll be able to do anything about digital media and copyright issues though, it'd be too difficult to prove that you don't own the media at home.  But the general rule for the past year or so has been, "if you don't want the government to see it at a customs checkpoint; mail home or put it in the cloud."
Are those clips from Fox News? I can hear the smug so they must be from Fox News.

Yea I've heard of people getting their laptops and shit confiscated for a long time.  I agree with Crow, you are crossing a border mail it.
I'm so happy I'm Canadian o-o
I doubt they'd just grab random laptops though.  That'd be a waste of time.  But then again, I'll just delete my less than legal stuff while traveling.  Easy enough to back up.
