Due to declining turnout, Ive decided to shelve this for a month before we attempt to continue with it. I apologize to anyone that went ahead and downloaded it last Saturday for next week. Just stash the files somewhere if you have the space and bring them back when we decided to roll again.
A lot of the older vets that had subscribed with us for a while have subsequently dropped off as well as several of the people here making commitments to come out and then not delivering. I understand Saturday can be a busy day for people and most won't be able to come out every week. I do not intend to abandon this entirely, but I think a break is needed for everyone to recharge their batteries before making another attempt. This is one of those games where you *have* to have a substantial number of people playing to have any kind of fun. Running around with just six people is no fun, need at least 10+ to really get fun stuff going.
I'd encourage anyone who has come out to any of these to keep your files handy, and if you have a favorite story from your time playing, please share it, the best way to promote an event is to let others know what they are missing out on. :'(
My favorite time from all of us playing was messing with a TR/NC fight on Amerish, we had 10 people running in two phantasms. When you drop 8 heavily armed infantry on anything, it dies. The best part of that however, was getting someone on the other team to come onto our ventrilo and spot for us. After we botched a drop the guy kills the BFR we nearly finished off and offers to spot for us.
We take Dopey up on his offer and he proceeds to tell us the location of all of their BFRs, big robots that if you kill them, the pilot has to wait FIFTEEN minutes from death to get a new one. Over the course of roughly 2 hours we killed one pilot over 4 times, earning some colorful hate tells, especially after we all mass sent him tells before we dropped on him, dude was so paranoid after the second death.
Overall it was a good night of asshattery, griefing, and fucking with a fight that you in no way should be involved in directly. ;D
I wholly expect Rummy to post some better accounts of fun, or possibly Kal, Wedge should respond simple with MAX in big bright red letters, followed by a picture of the Aflac duck.
