My dad has decided to get a new desktop, and I'm building it for him.  He doesn't really care about graphics on games, but wants it to be able to run Empire: Total War and Civilization 4 well.

Monitor
Mobo, Case, PSU, Video Card, Ram, Processor
DVD burner
Second disc drive

How does this look?
What does he need a second DVD drive for? Also, HANNS monitors are trash from the ones I've seen. They tend to have all sorts of wonky problems and come out too bright/dark, etc. 22" monitors are fairly cheap now, you can find a better brand for the same price.

Mobo brand is iffy and cheap, and mobos are generally very hit and miss. For a nongamer, the comp looks decent, but be wary of problems with the hardware being that it's bargain bin stuff.
I'd say that video card is stupid when you can get an ATI card for the same price that is theoretically much better.  However performance with Total War games is inconsistent and random and stupid, so who fucking knows.

That too, but it's a combo deal so I didn't bother. The 9500 is trash but should play Civ4.
