To explain why I don't like post counts:

I like the idea of rewarding stuff, and before I heard of karma (don't know how much that can be used yet though) post counts were really the only way to do it. Every single forum I've been to however turned into a spam-a-thon, either to get the stuff that a certain post count gives or just to brag about it, and it ultimately brings the whole place down a notch.

At Forumplanet you needed 500 posts for a custom avatar, and everybody spammed the last 100 posts or so.

At Screwattack people would bitch and moan whenever a topic got deleted or archived because it negatively affected their post count... and people would seriously threaten to leave over this.

Not cool, and I'd rather not see it happen here as well. Not saying it definitely would, but this is the internet after all. :p

Mind you, I'm not 100% against it. I just need some convincing and/or need to examine the inner workings of this forum some more. Smile

Boo for e-penus. Hooray for realizing that everyone here is cool like a cucumber, and therefore post count doesn't matter.
