Windows Seven - zaneyard - 06-26-2009

50 bucks for home premium, any thoughts?

I am running Windows XP, can I upgrade to Windows 7?
Microsoft designed Windows 7 Upgrade media for Windows Vista. A customer with Windows XP can purchase Windows 7 Upgrade media but must back up their files, clean install, and then reinstall their applications.

so according to this, it's a full install disc.
also, full 64 bit support

LOL at a 16 gig OS, that would leave me with 12 gigs free
looks like anything i would get would be for when i do a new build, still it's a good deal though.

Upgrade or full?

Never get an upgrade as it invalidates your old Key, and given how Vista fared, You probably want to keep that key....

idk if this is saying it's a full install disc or not
this "upgrade program" is all saying these are upgrade media's, but if i were to do a clean install, i don't think i would be doing an upgrade anymore?

The discount is for pre-order only.  And I'm pretty sure it's for pre-order of the upgrade only.

Ultimate was $400 and you didn't get a discount for already owning home premium.  I know I bought both.

Edit: I know I'm going to get flamed for this but I am definitely buying Snow Leopard for $30.  Dunno about W7 yet though.

Same. Mac usually has a lot less bugs when it's released. I have a feeling, even if 7 is a great OS, that I'll want to wait a couple months before getting it.

Re: Windows Seven - at0m - 06-27-2009

I don't plan on upgrading until it shows up in the M$ employee store (aka when friends can hook me up for cheap)

You do realize Windows 7 has pretty much been out for like, a half year now? The RC is hardly "buggy" and they aren't adding any more features too it at this point. Just bug fixes. So the only thing we will see if less bugs from the very stable Windows 7 RC we can all have.

If you are building a new system, get the full, non-upgrade version.
