So I want to set up a Radio Station - Neonie - 11-26-2009

I thought this was possible to do in Itunes but i was apparently wrong?  ???

Does anyone know how I can set up a Radio Station so people can listen to it on their Itunes/other Media Player things.

you need a server, and ample bandwidth, unless you only want a few people to be able to listen to you

This is going to be way more complicated then I wanted it to be isn't it?  :-\

It depends mostly on whether you want live-streaming or just a listen-when-you-want podcast.

I was going for a 24/7 live stream. But I thought all I would have to do is set up Itunes DJ and then export the station. As it turns out, there's a whole hell of a lot more to it then that and I may give up on this little short lived project.

Winamp and shoutcast are pretty easy to run.

Is that all I'll need? Duck said stuff about needing a server and badnwhich and I know I can't leave my gaming computer on 24/7 and it's the only plugged into the hard internet connection, and even then I'm almost certain if I tried to use my home computers as a server Time Warner would gag me.

You'll have to start by getting a broadcasting license and a transmitter in at least the 5mW range...

Do it off Ain's boat Pirate Radio style Big Grin

Re: So I want to set up a Radio Station - Luinbariel - 11-26-2009

I'm pretty sure you'd still need a license even if you just want to broadcast online, especially if you're intending to play someone else's music. You don't have the rights, you need to secure them.

Do it like the show free radio and get guest stars to come on

how exactly do you expect to run a station 24/7 if you're not even willing to leave your computer on 24/7?
