Steam Trading Card Beta - cbre88x - 05-16-2013

Yo dawgs, I got in the beta. Who else is in?

Re: Steam Trading Card Beta - Squishy3 - 05-16-2013

Coppanuva and I are both in.

Re: Steam Trading Card Beta - Luca Shoal - 05-17-2013

I am also in. Emotes are amusing, :medicon: was a worthwhile waste of $.85

Re: Steam Trading Card Beta - cbre88x - 05-17-2013

yea, I spent .55 on a sticky bomb emoticon. worth it.

Re: Steam Trading Card Beta - backfire - 05-19-2013

I'm a lv11 steamer with a 200 point golden potato. Fear me!

So do card drops work exactly the same as tf2 items (random drop of random things at random times)?

I think games will drop half the number of cards in the collection. For example there are nine cards for TF2, so you have five drops. You get them for playing and they show up in your inventory. In order to get cards beyond that you need to trade with other people.

Seconded. I played Portal 2 for about 1.5 hours last night and got three (out of four) card drops, so it seems like they drop pretty quickly, too. It's too bad this is all just scheming bullshit to convince you to buy DLC to increase the drop limit.

Re: Steam Trading Card Beta - Reevesith - 05-20-2013

just missing 2 for don't starve.. Wow didn't know they had foil cards too o-o

Re: Steam Trading Card Beta - Luca Shoal - 05-21-2013

Sell it while they still have value then. Or hold onto it til the others drop in price, get a foil badge.

Games start out with card drops limited to about half the number of cards in a set. Supposedly the only way to increase the drop limit is to buy DLC. It's referenced in the beta patch notes from a few days ago:

Quote:Fixed Dota 2 and Team Fortress 2 players not receiving card drop credit for in-game
purchases (this is retroactive to the beginning of the beta - check your badges page to see
how many drops you have remaining).

Yeah I think they said for every 9 bucks spent in tf2, it adds a card drop.

Re: Steam Trading Card Beta - Squishy3 - 06-04-2013

These games now have Trading Cards, Emoticons, Profile Backgrounds and Badges to collect:
Monster Loves You!
Really Big Sky
Faerie Solitaire
BIT.TRIP RUNNER 2
Big thanks goes to the developers for building the sets so quick.

We've been working on the tools for developers to add Trading Cards for their game, and have been getting a great response. We're hoping to release new sets of Trading Cards twice a week, every Tuesday and Thursday.

Re: Steam Trading Card Beta - Squishy3 - 06-18-2013

Booster packs: Players who have collected all the trading card drops they can for a game and have used Steam in the last week will randomly receive booster packs. These packs contain three additional cards for the game, and may contain foils.

Re: Steam Trading Card Beta - Versus - 06-18-2013
