I'm pretty sure Valve took out the server command that makes achievement_idle work...

Still works in some servers as far as I've seen.

Edit: Some servers run 2fort with 999 minutes on time, people just idle in spawn there for items.

I liked the achievement unlocks better.  At least then you could decide whether to earn them or farm them quickly.

I think you're also missing the point of why people idle in the first place...they want to try out the fucking new content. What's the point of having updates out if you can't play them? Of course people will pick the easiest way to get the new content, as has been proven before and is being proven right now. The only way to make the most people happy is to allow everyone to have the weapons, but keep milestones so those who want a sense of earning them will still be able to use the milestones rather than a get-all button. There will still be the whiners who you can never please, but it'll reach the broadest amount of people.

Pretty much what Gump said, the best way to stop the whoring would be to just give everyone all the stuff, the achievements can stay so people who do them get a sense of accomplishment, and those than really don't care get to play with them

Personally I liked the achievements + console command, if you wanted to do it legit you could, but if you didn't care it didn't matter
