Jan 2010 Tournament: Welcome to the BRB Superbowl! - Tricks - 01-08-2010

Grab a six pack, a bucket of wings, and prepare for the first annual BRB superbowl!

NFL Theme Song

The teams you have been signing up for will be thrown into three series of competitions: the regular season, the post season, and of course the superbowl! Teams have been assigned to duke it out in “best of three” competitions right here on BRB Yellow!

Curious who your team is throwing down with first? Check out the schedule of matches here. http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Ap9ukI9PTTm1dGRGYmJKb3hTZGFhdHhxb3JiZUZlbkE&hl=en

All matches will be held before Friday Night Fights, so make sure to stick around for more BRB.U fun afterwards.

Matches will be streamed live across XFire if the server ends up being full for spectating.

The maps will change with each new level of competition! The Regular Season will be all Capture the Flag, the Playoffs will be all King of the Hill, and the Superbowl will be something special…..

As for numbers, you need to have a roster of 6 people. Depending on how many players show up for the other team (somebody’s internet always fails, somebody forgets :Smile ) you will choose from your pool of players to face off against an equal number of players from the opposing roster. If you both have six players, ready to go, then it will be 6v6 by default. As a warning, if you show up with less then four then you just lose by default.

Class limits will be in place.

The first night of matches will occur before Friday Night Fights on the 15th, so you have a week to lock down your roster and meet with your team.

First place prize will be sixty dollars; split between the winning team!

A big thank you goes out to Surf for setting up all the teams!

WELCOME TO SUPER BOWL 1 AT BRB!!!!!

Hahaha that is awesome too Jeff.

We both know though that somebody would have responded and been like “is this on a Monday now? I thought this was on a Friday?”

Great link though, I got a laugh.

Agreed
5 Point CP would be so much easier for teams to decide their classes.
It would also be so much better for competitive

CTF maps work the best for smaller teams, a CP map in a 4v4 or even a 6v6 easily comes down to lots of situations where one guy somehow survives and caps a few points before people respawn. Plus it makes scout OP.

Re: Jan 2010 Tournament: Welcome to the BRB Superbowl! - copulatingduck - 01-08-2010

There are plenty of rulesets in place that work for 5v5 and 6v6 cp maps. There are however, no good rulesets that make ctf fun in competition.

edit: that said, not my tourney so I'll leave it to the organizers

Re: Jan 2010 Tournament: Welcome to the BRB Superbowl! - Kirby - 01-08-2010

AM I missing something, or is there no full roster of complete and incomplete teams?

Re: Jan 2010 Tournament: Welcome to the BRB Superbowl! - Darklink - 01-08-2010

Just making sure, but you will be using the CEVO or TWL cfg right?

tf_use_fixedshotgunspreads should definitely be implemented (I know ESEA uses it right now)

Obviously this isn't a serious tournament but a league cfg would make it more enjoyable imo.

Re: Jan 2010 Tournament: Welcome to the BRB Superbowl! - Cataract - 01-08-2010

Honestly, I'm kind of looking forward to doing CTF in the first round solely because of how little it's played on the BRBU servers. I know I haven't played any CTF in ages, so it should be an interesting starting point.

Re: Jan 2010 Tournament: Welcome to the BRB Superbowl! - Surf314 - 01-08-2010

We will be using the ruleset that makes it the most fair and organized, they will be posted at least a day before the match. But this is for fun and almost none of us are actual pro players so we aren't trying to be a pro league. You can find the team rosters here: http://www.brbuninstalling.com/forum/index.php?topic=4077.0

Also poor sportsmanship will be severely frowned upon.

Re: Jan 2010 Tournament: Welcome to the BRB Superbowl! - Kirby - 01-08-2010

Does this mean Team OG gets a bye for the 1st round?
