Earthbound VC - CaffeinePowered - 05-02-2008

I swear to god when this comes out, if you have a Wii and don't buy it, -50 DKP. Mother 2/Earthbound is one of the best RPGs released on the SNES, and you'll do yourself a huge favor playing it. Even if you already have played it on a ROM, or own the actual cart like I do, you owe it to yourself and good games in general to purchase this.

Re: Earthbound VC - Tragic Hero - 05-02-2008

Hah, glad to see your heart didn't explode in your chest due to joy overload.  I will probably be buying this when it comes to VC.  Now say "Fuzzy Pickle!"

Re: Earthbound VC - DrkAdonis - 05-02-2008

My Guitar Hero bands are all called "The Fuzzy Pickles"

I play this about once a year (usually in the summer), but I can't wait to spend more money on it. The more cash Nintendo makes on it, the better chance of eventually getting Mother 3, right? Right?

...guys?

"Ness casts SEX, it does 100 damage to monster"

why do they even ask 12 year olds what their favorite thing to do is anyways?

STOP DOTS.

Why the hell did I dismiss Earthbound way back when?  It seems like I missed something good.  Did I turn my nose up at it because of that dumb scratch-and-sniff sticker promotion?

Most likely.  And I know when it came out I was at that age where RPGs had to have ridiculous magic spells, kids with anime hair and swords and such.  Thats why I played the hell out of Chrono Trigger and passed on Earthbound.  I regret playing it so late but I still believe Chrono Trigger > Earthbound

Re: Earthbound VC - Wedge - 05-02-2008

Sadly, there is no way the VC can replicate scratch and sniff cards =<

Did you actually send the mystery one in, I remember the prize was a Mach Pizza air freshener, I think I still have that shrink wrapped somewhere...

Re: Earthbound VC - Versus - 05-02-2008

omfg, that is awesome ("that" being the Mach Pizza air freshener).

Also, I'm definitely getting this.

Re: Earthbound VC - ZargonX - 05-02-2008

Please let this be a prelude to a NA Mother 3 release... please please please.

In the meantime, I need to go get some Wii points...

Re: Earthbound VC - rumsfald - 05-02-2008

Yeah I saw this hit the news today and I thought of you Caff.  Trouble is, I just sent back Eternal Darkness: Sanitiy's Requiem after 'lo about 1.5 hours (aztec part). With older games like this, I just can't separate the nostalgia from enduring "classic" gameplay.

For example, Pac Man has enduring classic gameplay that transcends time and space.  But something for like Adventure for the 2600 (which I absolutely loved, especially locking that fucking bat in the white castle), my memories are MUCH MUCH kinder than the actual replay.  When I tried to play Eternal darkness, I just couldn't get past the dated graphics and controls (hello alone in the dark 1 for the pc).

So, I hear the enthusiasm about Earthbound, but I'm skeptical that it will hold up as well for people who never played it "back in the day."

I will gladly gift you a copy on the Wii's VC when it hits

Re: Earthbound VC - Black Aspen - 05-02-2008

None of this matters.  River City Ransom is already on the VC.

Re: Earthbound VC - Wedge - 05-02-2008

I never had Earthbound, it was my friends copy.  I think I'm the only one of us that actually beat it though.

I know why I missed it. Same reason I miss a lot of things... it looked like something I wanted to try, but ultimately ended up on that ever-growing pile of things I hope one day to watch/read/do/play/etc, but will probably just never get around to. Sad
