Shadowgrounds: Survivor - Wedge - 05-10-2008

It's only $5 this weekend on Steam.  Kinda wonky camera, but a pretty fun top down alien shooter.  And it has co-op!  For the price, I'd say it's worth it, I've always loved modern updates of Robotron/SmashTV/etc.

Is this it? If so, I am convinced. Won't actually be able to play until after Tuesday though.  Sad

Re: Shadowgrounds: Survivor - Wedge - 05-10-2008

Yep, that's it.  The marine is awesome when you get remote and cluster grenades.

Re: Shadowgrounds: Survivor - Geoff - 05-11-2008

Worth 5 bucks?

I would say worth the $5 if you get a few games going with friends. Don't know if it supports voice com, but Vent would fix that. Honestly, the way I gauge a games worth is I ask myself:

How many beers could I buy with that money instead, and would drinking that many beers be more fun than playing this game? If the beer is more fun, I don't buy it.

However, if you don't have TFC, I would suggest getting that first.

I have TFC, and cannot drink yet Tongue  Anyhoo, is it worth more than another month of live?

Hmmm. In my opinion, it is very much worth more than a month of live. But I play a lot of PC games and have more or less given up on Console gaming online. Your mileage may vary, but it seems like you're on PC more and more, so I would guess it's worth more than an extra month of live for you as well.

Lol, yeah.  My brother Jesse is getting really pissed because I was his Halo 3 doubles partner.  I'm terrible now  Wink

The other day:

Jesse: Get the rockets!
Geoff: wut
BABOOOOM!! DOUBLE KILL
Jesse: Jesus christ... *facepalm*
Geoff:  Don't yell at me ;_;
Jesse:  YOU HAVE NO FUCKING COMMON SENSE!
Geoff: But its Halo
Jesse:  It's also 17 to 9!
Geoff:  mehmehmehmeh
5 minutes later...
Jesse:  I can't believe we won, that was a close game
Geoff: wut

Re: Shadowgrounds: Survivor - copulatingduck - 05-11-2008

Lol. Rocket Race was the greatest thing to ever happen to that game IMO. There are very few people who get on Rocket Race to play seriously, everyone plays for shits and giggles. Hilarity always ensues.

Yes, I agree.  Its the best when you go in with 3 people, then sabotage a random persons game by continuously rocketing the mongoose or take off without the VIP, then having your friends win.  I mostly play Halo for griefing now.

Re: Shadowgrounds: Survivor - Eschatos - 05-11-2008

I just bought it.  Downloading now.

Re: Shadowgrounds: Survivor - Wedge - 05-11-2008

Oh damn, I just realized the co-op is local only.  That explains the "support multiple keyboards and mice" option.  I still think it's fun enough for $5, but no online I guess.

Though I swear there is a UT2k->Source mod that is like this but with online.  Can't remember what it's called though.

Hamachi?  Or do you mean like on one computer?

Re: Shadowgrounds: Survivor - Eschatos - 05-11-2008

One computer

Re: Shadowgrounds: Survivor - FlyingMongoose - 05-13-2008

I enjoyed the SP

Re: Shadowgrounds: Survivor - Eschatos - 05-13-2008

The single player was ok at best.  The story was total shit while the gameplay was decent.  I was disappointed that there was only one boss fight in the entire game, and that was near the beginning.  So far I wouldn't recommend buying it, but I haven't tried survival mode or co-op yet.

Re: Shadowgrounds: Survivor - FlyingMongoose - 05-13-2008

It's a good break from the usual though.

Re: Shadowgrounds: Survivor - Wedge - 05-14-2008

It was worth $5, but that's over now.
