A lot of us are in martial arts or just work out so post the crazy routines you've been through.

Today I had to do the following along with the normal class and the standard warm-up:

Shoot the target: lay down with your hands under your back.  Extend your legs and make a circle then bring them in and put them out into the center.  50 each direction.

Hand stand push ups: with two friends (or people you don't like if you are feeling dangerous) do a handstand and have them grab your legs.  Now do pushups.  Make sure you are looking at the floor.  Do 30.

If you are wondering the normal warm up is before this do 9 flexors (I don't know the real name but in horse stance extend your arms slowly flexing all muscles against each other).  30 impulses, 5 second holds on each stance twice (6 stances). Then blocks 30 inside 30 outside 60 regular.  Then 30 short range punches (6 varieties) 30 long range (4) 20 kicks (10).

*edit in case you think I was ok with this I wasn't I couldn't do the class afterwards because I was about to throw up  :-X

pair squats:
you team up with someone roughly your size and stand back to back, you link arms form behind and push of each other, balancing each other out so you can do squats.

dead arm:

its dead arm what else can i say?

one two:

same as dead arm but with the upper stomach

arm circles
you hold both arms out to your side, level with your shoulders and move them in little circles, it sounds easy but it really hurt after about 2 mins.

kick swingball, its a ball on a sting on a pole, its about chest height and the size of a tennis ball, you stand on either side and have to kick the ball around the pole

like swingball.

3 man pull ups (adult only):

two guys hold the bushido practice sword and one guy does pull ups (knees tucked)

are some of the weirder ones.

The handstand pushups are the only thing that sounds really tough but it seems like overkill anyways.

For Muay Thai I had to do your basic exercises (A bunch of sit ups, push ups, jump rope).  Then you did like 100 Knees into the pad, about 50 alternating high/low shin kicks and three 3 minute rounds of shadow boxing holding 5lb weights.  Then sparring without shin guards.  God I miss Muay Thai...

chest press variation: do chest press with one dumbbell for 4 reps on each side, starting from an incline  and moving the bench down one slot each time you finish doing the 8 reps now bring the bench back to incline once it reaches the flat position, hold the dumbbell underhand and repeat, make sure you do this very slowly for regular chest press and underhand one and make sure you're doing lighter weight than you normally do because it eats your chest alive and gets the inner pec

explosion squats: normal squat idea, but you go down as low as you can and jump up from the lowest position you can go, it's really fucking brutal, especially if you go into regular squats right after. I did this into 155 lb squats for 3 sets 12 reps each set for explosion and regular squats and I could barely even go down the stairs the next day.

just something to do right after squats: go up and down a set of stairs 3-4 times. may sound easy but it's not and gets extra blood flow into your legs.

and I'm sure most of you know this but #1 rule is: ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU EAT ENOUGH OR YOUR BODY WILL EAT YOUR MUSCLE RATHER THAN KEEPING IT.

Kung fu is big into acrobatics too, and being a bad ass.  If you look up shaolin monk pictures they do way harder core shit.  Like fucking wheelbarrows up and down temple stairs in the snow.

But yea train of thought derailed, anyways the handstand push ups help for doing some of the weird acrobatic stuff like roundoffs and kip ups.  We also do exercises where we have to walk around the gym on my hands.  Also one of the exercises that I think really almost killed me was grasshoppers.  Unlike normal push up stance you put your hands lower than your shoulders and against your body so you look like a cricket.  Then with your feet and hands you got to hop around the gym.

I used to be able to do these. It's easier to just lean your feet against a wall. Course, now my regimen consists of:

-Eat cheeseburgers

-bike to work

-bike back

-eat more cheeseburgers

-sleep

-rinse and repeat

Right now I spend two hours a day at Cross Country practice, with the occasional night session of Tae Kwon Do.
