Damnit, I really want to do this.  I can't afford two monthly subscriptions though.  Why the hell did they remove all the free trials?

Cause too many people were using them just to play the game and not actually purchasing/subscribing. Thats why the canceled fodderside, also it lead to a lot of hacking problems.

I was looking around today, and there is a 14 Day free trial.  To get it go here and download the game.  Then create a SOE account, confirm the email, and try to log in Planetside.  It'll tell you you don't have a subscription, but there's an option for a 14 Day free trial.  I activated mine and am going to be trying it out after I have dinner.

So far I'm liking it though I really suck at the combat.  Somehow I always manage to pick the wrong certifications when I'm getting ready to go into battle.  Sniper rifles are not much use against tanks.  I think that we should play the Terrans.  Right now they're the least populated and they need the help.

When my PC gets a card back we'll play since you will all be very fucking lost without a little hand holding. The learning curve is very steep without someone showing you the ropes. Feel free to download and patch up, but dont activate your trial

is that how you get more vehicles, guns and those mech suits?

EDIT: I just logged on and it said I'm suspended for 3 days for dishonourable or illegal activity.

I have no fucking clue what I did wrong. Is it against the rules to die a lot?

Hm, did you TK anyone?

TKing will rack up "grief points", since you are from australia you might have been warping around alot due to lag and someone might have misconstrued that.

My other question would be do have have an AMD dual core machine (or a laptop with speed stepping), if you have a dual core processor you need to get the dual core optimizer from AMD's website, if you dont have that all actions you do in game double in speed or some such non-sense, its considered exploiting and doing it once will get you a slap on the wrist.

Also the launcher in the link eschatos gave was stalling for me (wouldn't get past loading graphics update). So I just downloaded this and it worked.
