it took a full 6.3MB just to download the directory listing.

lmfao, nice!

though that brings the average filesize down to ridiculous. Are most of those essentially empty files with a mapchange and maybe a connect/disconnect, or are replays encoded entirely differently from demos?  I'm not familiar with the new system at all
[/quote]

Replays log pretty much network traffic and extrapolate from there. (This is why ragdolls have been fubar from day 1)

The .block files that contain the goods are capped at 250KB, and the .dmx files that contain the index of the .block files are normally like 10-15KB

Oh,  Valve at least made the replay system NOT record emptyness. There's no wasted files a-la HLTV

so I just ate a quarter package of Duncan Hines Chocolate Frosting for breakfast, it was awesome.  Just putting that out there.

Also I wanted to make a Ducruex response to Rummy; "Fuck Pants, Acquire Kilt."  But the process of burning CDs to transfer the shit back and forth for editing is just too troublesome.

"But Crow, what about memegenerator???" - "FUCK MEME GENERATOR!"  That and I'm on a shared satellite connection :/

Dilemma:

Take an unpaid internship that would have me learn actual skills and have projects assigned to me in a biotech chompany that requires a 45min - 1 hour commute in either direction, or stay at home most of the time and volunteer at a hospital once a week for 4 hours.

Anyone ever not sleep because they were too bored? I've been up since 12pm yesterday, spent the last 3 hours doing absolutely nothing, and just didn't feel like sleeping. I look at the clock and realized it's already 7am. I just completely screwed over my sleep schedule... again...

Which means it's back to "normal"

For my experience, community work does help to get more jobs, and you'll be rich on experience. But that's not as nearly how much job recognition and experience you would earn from a REAL remunerated and socially accepted job.

You probably don't need to hear it from me, but be sure to make at least a few contacts while you're there as well. I know it's easy to  slack off when work is slow, especially as an intern, but do what you can to meet people when you get some free time. Go shake hands and talk to people, let them get to know you. The small talk might seem trivial now, but forming those professional relationships early can only help you.

My deadline to respond is tomorrow and my parents are both opposed (to varying degrees) to having me commute for an internship that they believe won't make much difference to me in the future overall, and also because they say that one of the family contacts will line me up with an internship next summer.

And now I have a massive headache.

Edit:

Fuck it, I'm sending a "I'm highly interested" email with a resume attached.

Wife: Help me cut this nightgown to turn it into a shirt
Me: It looks terrible
Wife: How so?
Me: It looks like you cut it up with scissors
Wife: I am cutting it up with scissors (looks in mirror) oh I guess it does look terrible
