I think it can be pulled off, but I haven't played the fallout games. The one thing i hate about video games is the restraint of being a low level. I mean you can be skilled but require experience to play the game, but being automatically being labeled useless even though someone is a lousy shot, he should be able to get a hit after a few tries or that headshot that connected should at least give the same damage as the higher player. a 7.62 cal bullet to the head is still a 7.62 bullet to the head.

Call me jaded, but that's the level of control I hate to slip through my hands. Skill should overcome the "I played longer" factor. Fuck MMOs

I agree with you when it comes to MMOs but I disagree when it comes to Real Time RPGs (like Deus Ex for example).  It would be lame in Deus ex if I could have thrown all my skill points in all my other skills because I can still aim well regardless of my rifle skill.  Makes the game more challenging when they penalize you for not putting points in a specific combat skill.

The one thing I hated about Deux Ex was that you had to spend a ton of points to have decent aiming.  Yes, I know it's an RPG, but it's also an FPS.  A genetically modified super soldier should be able to aim their pistol like someone who isn't drunk.

Hah.  Leave it to Eschatos logic to trump my statement.  You make a valid point on that a super soldier should be able to aim right out the box.  Regardless I prefer Ion Storms way rather than being able to dump points anywhere else because your natural aiming abilities.

Thats another thing that made Deus Ex so great.  Every skill was useful.  Granted Swimming was the least useful but there were some pretty awesome items/areas in the game that you could only get to by swimming.

Better aiming, or...being able to get 5 seconds out of a rebreather...hmm...

I never said that swimming should be anyones first priority in Deus Ex.  The point I was trying to make was that all the skills in the game ended up being valuable.

I dunno what anyone is worried about.  It's coming for PC, and as long as they release an updated version of Oblivion's modding tools, the game will be fixed by community, just like Oblivion was (I liked the game a lot after running about 20 mods on it).

Modifications cant fix shitty dialog, writing, and story

It might be coming to PC but from articles and from how Beth has been showing it off it looks like its geared to the console crowd.  And like I stated before, its a dark day in the fallout world when "noob" fallout gamers can skip points in science and speech by compensating with the retarded minigames that we saw in Oblivion.

Oblivion and Morrowind are vast, but they are not deep. I picture them as kind of an Olympic-sized kiddie pool. Lots of places to go, but not a lot of them mean anything.

Still, I do not think they are BAD games. They just aren't satisfying and substantial like I would like them to be. I do think, however, that they've paid extraordinary detail to the most recent Fallout and have tried to compose something both arrestingly new and irreproachably familiar.

Well thats why I stated that it has a 68% chance of being a good game but a 14% chance of being a good fallout sequel.  Bethesda knows how to make a fun game but not a deep one.

I don't wanna hijack this thread, but I just obtained the first fallout and was wondering a little thing:  where does I level?  I'm level 11 and already did a hell of a lot of quests, but I still get owned by the military base  Sad  Any help would be appreciated :3

Did you finish the water chip quest?

Ideally if you are going in guns blazing you want to be at least 15 or so and have power armor and a big fucking gun

Yes, in fact I do have the power armor and the improved green machine of doom.  I've done the water chip, the caravan, Irwin's farm, let's see..... killed decker, killed gizmo (by accident and now I'm banished from junktown forever and ever, damn mic), let me think.... helped the ghouls, but now they're all dead, cheered up the AI and fixed the base, uh... got brotherhood'd and saved the prisoner in the hub, deathclaws are done fer in LA, and the blades are set to pwnizzle the other doods.

So yeah, I'm just not wanting to grind my way thru the wasteland Tongue

Guess you must just suck then  Tongue

Usually after all of that is done the military base should be a breeze, if you have problems, leave, resupply and come back.

Enemies stay dead, so if you clear a floor and leave you should be fine.

What Caf said.  If you've completed all of that then you shouldn't have too much problems with the base.

Curse my leveling! I'll just grind out 2 levels then head back for the finale, lest the game suffer my dreaded forgetfulness!

I just started playing Fallout yesterday.  Finished junktown before I had to stop.
