The imaging protocol I designed for my research project works

Behold:


These are tiny (15um) fluorescent microspheres lodged in a rat's ocular capillary bed. I can hopefully use this to calculate ocular blood flow (which is impossible to do directly in most contexts).

Okay, no one probably cares. But I'm in a good mood because I got everything to work (including the automatic counting software), making the project actually feasible. And I got like, a tiny bit of praise from my research adviser, which is rare.

I think one of my favourite parts of my CS education was realizing that I could count in binary about as well as I do in decimal

On a personal note.  I went to a tea cafe in York (http://www.bettys.co.uk/).  I had Jasmine tea, Salmon and cream cheese sandwiches, and a chocolate cherry tort while reading some of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.  It was expensive but I had such a great feeling of relaxation and bliss stepping out of there it was totally worth it.
