The Raconteurs, that others have suggested, is Jack White's (the guitarist from the White Stripes, duh) first major side band. He sings some and plays guitar some, but also has another singer and guitarist (who is swell) and an actual bassist. They have two albums, which are swell.

Jack White, hallowed be thine name, also produced and played guitar for Lorretta Lynn on her album The Van Lear Rose. It's fucking awesome, especially notable is the atmospheric intro to Portland, Oregon. I basically consider that a white stripes album with an old cuntry chick singing.

Jack is also in a third group now playing drums, called the Dead Weather. The couple of songs I previewed weren't that good. I mean, listening to Jack White play drums is like watching Michael Jordan play baseball.

Queens of the Stone Age is the second major band for guitarist Josh Homme. His first is major band Kyuss from the 1990s (from sons of Kyuss, total D&D reference). I actually think some of the Kyuss stuff is better, like Blues for a Red Sun and Sky Valley.

Mark Lanegan, hallowed be thine name, is the former singer for the Screaming Trees (awesome seattle grunge band). He sings some of the songs on QOTSA's Rated R and Songs for the Deaf (and others). He's one of my favorite singers and has extremely under-rated solo career, I recommend Whiskey for the Holy Ghost as a starting point, but if you like QOTSA you might like the heavier Bubblegum. He also has a heavy-ish side-project with former Afgan Whigs singer called the Gutter Twins.

Related to QOTSA/Kyuss is early Monster Magnet stuff (Spine of God, SuperJudge, 25....Tab, and Dopes to Infinity).

Hope something there fits what you are looking for.

Spoon, you'd probably like Spoon.

Spoon - You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb

They've made a shit load of music with a lot of different sounds.
