Yes, so if anyone wonders about my forum absence here it is. I know I haven't really been online playing as much as I wanted, but I'll have more time next semester to do this. I've been over working myself (I have a hard time telling people no). I've been marching an indoor drumline group and put on a big recital plus a lot of other performances I helped people with (a few senior and junior recitals and big studio performances). SO that took away LOTS of my free time. Unfortunately I'm in the same boat this summer.

So you may be wondering..where/what the fuck is he going/doing for 3 months?

Some of you may be familiar with the activity called "Drum and Bugle Corp". I'll be marching with the Bluecoats this summer playing vibraphone. So what the fuck is this "Drum and Bugle Corp" anyways? If you don't know..try reading this.

Anyways, this will going on until I get back to my own band camp in August (blah). Then I can start playing normally again! (yay!)

Here's the site of the corp I'm with.

Bluecoats 2009 Part 1

That's a rehearsal run from their show last year.

Music from this year includes:

Asphalt Cocktail (wind ensemble piece that came out from a well known wind band composer not too long ago)
160 BPM (from Angels and Demons)
Aha (Imogen Heap)
Some random stuff from The Untouchables theme (Ennio Morricone, famous film composer [Gabriel's Oboe])

fuckin sick dude, that's awesome! I was actually going to check out the 2010 Countdown on Thursday with some friends, now I get to brag about knowing a guy whose gonna be in the Bluecoats Big Grin. I might try to catch you guys when you swing by MA.

How was the tryout process? Also, glhf and all that jazz. I don't know what the drum and bugle corps experience is really like so if you're up for writing about your experience when it's all over that'd be awesome. I've heard there's a ton of pressure to perform and some pretty sketchy stuff that goes on (this was something I heard referring to The Cavs specifically) would be curious to know whether that's all bullshit or not.

Nah Karth, I was on a Drumline for 5 years in an Air Cadet Band. The culture is awesome and somehow I never really ever shook the need to tap out a beat. Quad toms ftw!

Seabreeze, your crew is fucking astounding. Sounds like a great set too!

haha, a lot of interesting things happen on tour. I'll def. be up for writing about it when I get back..all while taking pictures as much as I can. The 2010 Countdown that's tomorrow I think features our corp's last brass camp in a video so you might get to hear some of the show book.

Well I knew we were good but not that good. They didn't really accociate with anyone outside of drumline though.

So is that why your group is passing through centerville? Is it a school associated group?

They are more associated with a indoor drumline group named "Rhythm X", but most of the music techs at Rhythm X teach at Centerville as well as Bluecoats during the summer..so we have a slight association with them.

To clarify..Rhythm X is a World Class group from Columbus that competes in WGI..same thing I did with a group called Odyssey..except they are a much higher caliber group.

WGI is basically indoor drumline and colorguard.
