Well the Blockbuster nearby is closing down next month, the second closest in July, so more and more I'm needing to look at different avenues of video rental since were are nearly down to just those Red Box vendors at stores and 711.

Is stuff like Blu-Ray streamed over the consoles? We have the living room TV where my PS3 sits for mostly Blu-Ray action and is that streamed over the service in a good quality or are there times when it has to load up or anything?

Also is it a service that is easy to use across multiple things? I figured there's just a basic username and then it can be used across everything, since I have my 360 in my room, then the PS3 in the living room, my sister has a Wii, and I want to make sure it's something that works well across everything.

As for Gamefly, is that a good service? I'm not constantly renting stuff every few weeks, so if I'm only renting like once...maybe twice a month, is it worth getting then?

There's HD streaming but not everything is in HD, however you can get Blurays for extra moolah, don't remember what it is exactly.. Netflix only needs to be activated once per console, but its a limit of 5 devices including PCs. I have no complaints with Gamefly and it's good if you want new games as long as you make sure you don't have a game out by the time said game releases if you have the 1 disc plan. You also get killer discounts after being a member for so long, you get 5 gamefly dollars every 3 months (does not stack, otherwise they would be losing lots of money if it did) and a 5% discount after 6 months, and a 10% discount after a year. So if you want to keep something, average keep price is $49.99. After 10% discount and 5 gamefly dollars it comes down to like $39.99 or something. They mail the case and to you for free, as well. They also run good sales on stuff from time to time and also offer a game trade-in service.

I'm actually in the same predicament as you are Maxon. Both of my local blockbusters have closed so I don't have many choices for local renting. Luckily, Netflix has a 1-month free trial that include unlimited streaming. I recently switched over and I really like the streaming, even the non-HD streams are great quality. I'd recommend trying it out.  Smile

Netflix is alright. They got madmen, and a few gems movie-wise but not a whole lot up here in canada.

I love Netflix. You have to pay like, 2 extra dollars for a wider range of movies, but it's only like 2 dollars

Netflix is fantastic and has a great variety of plans for the money conscious person. There is a 7.99 plan for instant streaming only and the basic 1 disc with streaming is 10. Streaming quality is always awesome granted you have a decent connection. Instant streaming alone is well worth it. Tons of TV shows movies and documentaries are available.

Honestly, it's so robust it has replaced cable in my apartment. I haven't had cable since I lived in a dorm.

I've never paid for cable in my life. Netflix+torrents works pretty great <3

I had Gamefly for a while a few years ago, but they just kept raising the monthly fee, and eventually it just wasn't worth it. If they went back to their old pricing model, I'd go back.

Netflix's streaming is also really polished up.

You can use the seek bar to seek in streaming movies, and it actually lets you seek, and gives you caps of where you've seek...ed...sucked... whatever... to so you can scroll to something specific if you want. I've had netflix for over a year now, but I jut get DVD's and Blurays to rip into an iso and send back.  :-X Rent once, own forever.

Netflix Streaming + Torrents for me as well. It sucks that Netflix doesn't have some older/obscure stuff available for streaming, but I'm constantly surprised by what it _does_ have.

Side note: I pay for cable because getting my internet and landline a la carte would be more expensive, and watching football on my HDTV is pretty boss. I need a surround sound system ;x

This. I've had discs here for over a year, just never got around to sending em back.... which I just sent back today. I still have NBK to watch, but I'll be getting Conan soon. And Red vs. Blue Big Grin

I love the streaming, but too many of my movies aren't available on there. It's really nice having streams though.
