Setting up a server. - 3clipse - 02-20-2009

Hey, i was wondering how you can set up a server just for like when i have a friend that has tf2 over also, and we both just play in my server.
I know how to do it in CS:S but in tf2 its different.
Thanks.

Re: Setting up a server. - Ianki - 02-20-2009

i might be wrong, but you can make a private lan server, and then set sv_lan to 0?  I know this has worked in mods, i never had to try it for tf2

You have to tell your router to forward any incoming 27015 traffic to your PC

http://www.portforward.com

also, i think he's talking about a local game?
if so, it is the same as in CS:S. make sure that you can ping between machines before

Re: Setting up a server. - Blues - 02-21-2009

Wow you guys are making this difficult. Start TF2, there's a start game or host game button somewhere right there on the main menu. Pick a map, start the game, he'll see it in LAN games if he's on the same router as you.

I was under the impression he wasnt at a lan, but if you are on the same network you dont need to do anything

No, you said that it's the same as CS:S, which wouldn't relay the same message for people who haven't played CS:S. Tongue

Regardless, I didn't make it down to your post, I saw a bunch of stuff about setting up servers with sv_lan 0 and etc. and was like wtf click button play game.

Hi I'm Dave, and I apparently don't know what the word irrelevant means. I also like to have a say in everything, regardless of whether the issue is resolved or not. Well, places to go, cocks to suck, AWAAAAAAAY I GOOOOOO![/quote]
