Fan-made intro credits for X-Men: First Class.  Pretty slick.  Uses 1960s Bond motif with a rendition of the 90s animated series' theme music to blend in with the movie's setting.  Wouldn't say it's perfect, but still solid.  Hope some notice is taken from this for the film's real credit sequence.

X-Men: First Class Title Sequence
Eh. Not great. And it ruined one of my favorite theme songs of all time Sad.
The version did they for that trailer kills my ears. It's horrid.  The trailer itself is kinda cool.

Ya, the music is the weak part of the whole thing.  I thought the visuals and the general concept were strong though.

Watched Ponyo. Way too cute for its own good. Pretty bland story for someone like Miyazaki, but the colors are bright and the images are pretty, so I can at least say it's worth a watch.

If you're familiar with the original Little Mermaid story and not the Disney one the story makes a lot more sense.

Oh yeah, I forgot, the dubbing wasn't good. It might have lost a lot of emotional weight due to that. Surprising considering all the big names in the film.

The Big Lebowski was friggin' great.
Tina Fey and Liam Neeson were good. Not a fan of the exclusive Disney stars for every other role though.

It's just surprising considering they usually get pretty good voice actors for these. Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away; all of those movies had a fairly good cast (although I'd like to rewatch them in the japanese langauge track).

Re: The Movie Thread - Maxon - 05-06-2011

Thor was pretty great.  The Iron Mans are still probably my favorite Marvel flicks, but that's just personal preference.  It's certainly one of the top ones though.

I want an Avengers movie so goddamn bad. Marvel, yumake me wait?  Sad

Just got done watching the Birdemic rifftrax with some friends. God that was horrible.

Birdemic - Shock and Terror

Re: The Movie Thread - Squishy3 - 05-06-2011

Thor was deliciously awesome. When he gets Mjolnir back, I had a nerdgasm.

Re: The Movie Thread - KarthXLR - 05-06-2011

watched the Karate Kid remake with my folks.

Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but not good either. Was just kind of "meh" in the end.

Keep in mind it was originally called the Kung Fu Kid. At least it's not like the one with Hilary Swank.
Also, there's a slow motion run of Natalie Portman with a good 4+ seconds of boob jiggle. And you also get The Destroyer, which is basically the Asgardians' Gort.

Just got back from Thor with a group of friends.  I'm the only one that liked it.  1 out of 7.  It drags at points, I'll say that, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I'm one of the six.

Thor was dumb. Not bad, but not good in the slightest. So painfully forgettable and average that it hurts. Hell, I got back from it 20 minutes ago and I can barely remember what the movie was even about.

Re: The Movie Thread - [SiN] Merc - 05-07-2011

Thor was great, it was about a blond dude with a beard beating the shit outta frost giants and a badass robot(?) thing with a hammer. Also, I agree, Boob jiggle run was movie MVP.

I also liked the name drops in the movie, "Is that one of Starks new toys?" made me giggle some.

Re: The Movie Thread - Surf314 - 05-07-2011

Thor was pretty good but the storytelling was off.

On par with Iron Man 2 is about how I'd describe it.

Not amazing, but a solid comic book movie that doesn't make you wish you had paid to see the writer and director's throats slit instead (a la Spiderman 3 or Kick Ass)
