Got into a free screening of Pacific Rim. Pretty cool watching giant robots fight giant lizards.

fixed it for you

I enjoyed most of it, but there was a certain scene that made me want to walk out of the theater because it was probably the most retarded thing I've ever seen/heard.
I thought it was really fun. Is the plot amazing? No, but it's not the center piece and really only serves as a vehicle to have robots fight monsters. Are the fight scenes awesome? Hell yes.
Absolutely. Visually it's a pretty amazing film. I would recommend seeing it in IMAX 3D just for those scenes.

Re: The Movie Thread - Squishy3 - 07-09-2013

I saw Lone Ranger. Was it a good movie? Not particularly, I'd rate it as decent. Was it entertaining? Certainly. Spoilers below:
Some lady and her husband walked out crying (only the lady was crying) during the scene where a bunch of Native Americans got mowed down by a gatling gun. So that was too much for her but the scene earlier in the movie where you see a reflection of Butch Cavendish eating a man's heart is perfectly normal?
If I want to watch Oldboy again, I'll just watch Oldboy. It's not dated or cliched. Even the trailer looks pretty much the same as the original trailer.

I found the Lone Ranger insulting to the Noble Savages, in general.  Tonto was hilarious, but in a "fuck, someone is going to have a PC shitfit over this" kinda way.

I was skeptical about this movie but then I read more about it. Apparently they were going for an homage while creating a new movie. I expect the ending to be different. They also said they tried to stick closer to the original manga.

I plan on seeing it in an IMAX hopefully in 3D.  I'm a sucker for movie franchises like Godzilla and Gamera, so regardless of how bad the not-kaiju scenes are, I'll still come out with a smile of nostalgia...I HOPE

Re: The Movie Thread - Squishy3 - 07-12-2013

Pacific Rim was pretty goddamn amazing.

Re: The Movie Thread - Mission Difficult - 07-13-2013

I was thinking about it, and Pacific Rim is what Cloverfield should have been. Also, if you haven't seen Pacific Rim yet, why not? Get to it...

Let's face it, he's probably been kidnapped in Eastern Europe and sold into slave labor by now.

Karf is in Europe

I had seven reactions after seeing Pacific Rim:

1. This is everything I've ever wanted in a movie, and it comes it a rocket powered robot can.
2. It's like Transformers with out the suck or gratuitous product placement!
3. Trailers that don't give away the essence of the movie are the best trailers.
4. There's finally a movie that can crib heavily from
Inception, BWAAAAM
and make it work.
5. Let's forget that
GLaDOS died to save us all
.
6. They used the word
Portal
in the exposition!
7.
Red robots die first!
,
(both actual red & Soviet red)
I would go right back into the theatre for a second go at Pacific Rim at any given moment. I loved it!
