Today, I cancel my bladder control (with laughter)

Pacific Rim was the best (live action) giant robot vs giant alien fight movie in the past decade.

Re: The Movie Thread - FlyingMongoose - 07-30-2013

I've come to the conclusion that Skyfall has at least 3 "easter egg" moment pointing to the possibility of the james bond series being rebooted from the beginning (back to Dr. No)

1: The most obvious one is the post-credits dialogue between Bond and the new "M", this dialogue is near identical to the opening of Dr. No (released 1962)
2: The codename of the female counter-part is Moneypenny and she doesn't like field work (Moneypenny from the original series never really did)
3: During his psychiatric evaluation, the person testing him asked him his specialty, to which he responded "Resurrection"

I can't think of if there are others. (Let me know if you guys remember/know others).

Now, it seems near painfully obvious they are actually rebooting the series from Dr. No, maybe they think Daniel Craig will do well in his attempt to fill Sean Connery's shoes... but I don't know, we'll have to wait and see, I will admit, he is one of few Bonds I have thought were quality Bonds.

Anyway, let me know if you guys noticed any more of the "easter eggs".

Bond drives M from London to the Bond estate in an Aston Martin

Good point.

Re: The Movie Thread - at0m - 07-31-2013

Brosnan was a classy Bond, similar to how I thought Connery was. Craig is a lot more similar to how I think Bond would probably be if he were real - he's monster.

Its not just any Aston Martin. Its the DB5. Its THE classic James Bond car.

Saw R.I.P.D.

It was reasonable. Jeff Bridges knows how to be a sexy sophisticated woman, and ryan reynolds does a thing.

Re: The Movie Thread - KarthXLR - 08-03-2013

The Conjuring is legitimately good horror. Good scares, good effects, lots of great tension. May do a full write-up this weekend.

Re: The Movie Thread - Hobospartan - 08-03-2013

Finally got around to watching Brave.  I was really expecting more from Pixar than WACKY BEAR  HIJINKS!

Re: The Movie Thread - at0m - 08-03-2013

I just watched Oblivion. I was entertained, but that movie was a pile of awful scifi tropes, held togteher with some really good special effects and (what is effectively) a Morgan Freeman cameo appearance. also, HAL

Re: Re: The Movie Thread - at0m - 08-03-2013

Hansel & Gretel, Witch Hunters was just as campy, ridiculous, and entertaining as I hoped it would be.

I bought into the kickstarter on that one back when it was supposed to be Twilight. Looking forward to seeing it with my friends, I already bought a pile of tickets for everyone.

Just had shitty movie night last night and watched sharknado. It was pretty fun making fun of the entire thing. We watched a few more movies but at that point I was to trashed to remember any of it.

Watch The Room all the way through

Re: The Movie Thread - zaneyard - 08-04-2013

We watched the room but I don't think anyone was listening to the dialog so we were just trying to make up the plot on our own
all i know is we thought it was a softcore porn at first and then we just figured that this chick was running a whorehoouse.

Re: The Movie Thread - KarthXLR - 08-06-2013

Finally got around to seeing Pacific Rim. Everything I wanted and more from the movie. Awesome practical sets and effects and excellent fighting between giant robot and monster. Human characters were dull, but not awful; Charlie Day and his british partner guy stole the show as far as that goes. Ron Pearlman is awesome as always. I abso-fucking-lutely recommend it to everyone.

Re: The Movie Thread - at0m - 08-06-2013

British partner guy plays a bisexual womanizer in Torchwood, it's good times.
