Nothing like bumping an old thread with relevant information. I was bored and went to see if anything for the new STALKER game, Call of Pripyat has turned up int he last four months. They released a new trailer three days ago. Enjoy.

Blowouts were in Clear Sky but they were'nt all that great and were terribly buggy.

As a matter of fact, Clear Sky as a whole was a buggy broken mess, tons of errors, the major features they promised and the improved gameplay was just shoddy implemented.  I kind of regret buying it.  It's sad when the only thing that semi-worked faction wars/blowout wise were the scripted events in the first section of the game you play (the swamps).

So needless to say I'm not looking forward to this.  Every expansion they release is supposed to be "what stalker SHOULD have been" but as it stands it's nothing more than broken promises running on a TERRIBLY glitchy engine that is crash prone.  Not to mention the area's of the game other than the first swamp area were very small, the only exception was "The Garbage" area, and with nothing much to do in any of them.

I haven't played Clear Sky since last year, maybe the community has made some sweet mods for it that make the game much better than what it was since I last played it.

I never played the original stalker because of the same issues I have heard, so I was disappointed when I picked up Clear Sky in hopes that is was "What stalker should have been", when it really wasn't.

You were supposed to play the first STALKER, and only brave the second one with a bunch of mods under your belt. Anyway, the big thing about this new one is that they actually have an external team of professional testers instead of just doing all the testing in house which is what they were doing before. That seems like a good reason to give this game a better look.

A new trailer was released which shows one of the now officially implemented new enemies. Also, orgasmic STALKER lighting.

My first triple post! Anyway, the game is out in Russia. The general consensus? Solid.

Wait... a STALKER game that doesn't have a crapload of game breaking bugs and issues at launch ultimatly failing so badly that the project manager gets fired?? You must be mad, man.

Just because a game has bugs, doesn't mean it's not good lol The previous STALKER games had plenty of bugs, but were great to play.  But either way, I would assume they spent some time working out the bugs, being the third release of the engine, and they don't have to worry about faction wars anymore and they made missions better.

Oh...AND DAMN THOSE RUSSIANS FOR GETTING THE GAME NOW AND US NOT GETTING IT.  DAMN THEM TO HELL.

Not saying they were bad, not by a long shot. SoC had this immersion and atmosphere that no other game had (fallout 3 didn't even get close). Don't think I need to bring up the memories surrounding x16 and 18, do I? :-X

Looking forward this this anyways. I just hope it does a better job at optimizing their engine. SoC I got a nice framerate in and it looked sorta decent. Clear Sky looked better, but not amazing, yet I still got a lower fps playing that at high settings than crysis maxed out.

Uninstall it, download the latest version at www.moddb.com, install it correctly and see what happens.

Uhhh no.

LURK basically does the same thing as OL.  It's a total rebalance/readdition mod just like OL is.

Edit:  Not sure If I want to use OL or LURK
They both seem so good.
