Class limit has been on the server for QUITE some time and you people start bitching now?
Class Limits is Great for... - Class Updates, come heavy update, expect a limit of 3 on number 1 - Preventing some maps from utterly breaking, see 4 Engineers on Dustbowl, mach4, ect - Keeping your team balanced, ref 4 snipers on ANY map - Forcing a class on certain maps, like soldiers on Bball The Mic Spam Plugin will be on #1, since its generally less of a problem there I'm putting the limit at 20 seconds and a mute, why? - I'm sick of getting messaged to deal with someone, and Im sure other admins are too - No, its not funny and no its not fun, you want to "DJ" how about you organize a time to do it on ventrilo? DJ vent night has a decent ring to it, then you don't have to worry about pissing others off the on server, seems like a fair compromise. - Still allows you to play "short" clips - I can set admin permissions on it so that if it is just 4 or 5 regulars an admin can "DJ" in game Ill see about resetting sv_pure for TFT/FNF ONLY, its never going back unless I see patch release notes stating they fixed the issue, or a plugin that does it separately. I get routinely called out every other day or so to deal with micspammers; it's getting old, but for now I have the time to deal with it. Once school starts back up in 2 weeks, I won't. This is not something I'm budging on. Class Limits: They've been on for a long time. They're not coming off, drop the issue. The fact is when one team spams one class it effectively guarantees a win/loss for that team, depending on the situation. Don't give me this "good teams can deal" as during pub play, you'll never have that good team, so it just ends up frustrating people; I for one know if I saw a complete turtlefest on Dustbowl and I didn't have an organized team, I would just leave. People complained enough, so I made a config that allows admins to turn off class limits FOR THE CURRENT MAP. That's as far as I'll allow it to go though. I should srsly rewrite my dynamic classlimit plugin for source. I don't think anyone would be interested in using it though

If it could limit classes based on how many people are in the server, that would be awesome. If it could do other stuff too, that would be sweet. Its got a config file thats basically a matrix of lower bounds on population and upper bounds on each class for that population (so it'd be like if pop >0 the limits are one thing, >5 another, >10 another, etc.) The population levels were set in the config file, unlimited levels and fully customizable. I wrote it years ago for .id, it runs on all of our TFC server still I think. I have to relearn how to make plugins before I can do it though, since I don't think I can port it directly. Guess I'll have to learn another programming language I wrote that plugin originally as an exercise for myself to learn Small (the language HL1 adminmod plugins are written in), so learning the current language shouldn't be rough. I just need to find my source code, the zip file I've had on my website for years is corrupt... I approve of the FNF & TFT thing as well.
And uhh...the class limits still break RPS Caff. We tried to tonight, and we couldn't cuz Pyro's were limited. It would be nice to turn those off on TFT & FNF as well :I |

And as far as I'm concerned, its not fun when your team get steamrolled because four or five people decided they wanted to play sniper. Steamrolls are one of the fastest ways to empty a server of people and an admin's #1 job after rule enforcement is to keep the servers as full as possible as often as possible.
If you can't get enjoyment out of playing at least 2 different classes, you have a problem and should probably be playing a different game. Every TF game before TF2 has had class limits built in, why valve didn't build the cvars in is beyond me, but I'd really love something like Atom's dynamic class limits based on number of people. At no point should more than 1/3 of your team be playing the same class  Sig by Joel
