reason: 3 bad, nv good

The difference between hiring good writers, and um...not proofreading the plot?

[/quote]it references all of the other games, just like all of the other games do, but you're not going to miss out on anything if you skip FO3 before playing FNV. You'll miss out on a giggle or two, and a HOLY SHIT ITS <character from FO2>, HOW IS THAT GUY STILL ALIVE, but that's just about it.

Also, I can't help but be amused at how close FNV is to FEV, the virus that created the supermutants :o

Yeah my comment started out as a 'you can skip FO3' then I realized they're all structured such that you can skip any of them, but you miss out on a bunch of in-jokes if you do.

Glad to see some things never change.

I loved Super Meat Boy as well. Kind of quirky, different, and just really easy to sit down and play.

Ok so after playing a good deal of Deadly Premonition... I'm adding that to my list earlier. As far as combat and stuff goes, it's not really ideal and it is kinda annoying for the most part, but the plot... holy crap the plot. It really gripped me and I'm willing to put up with boring gameplay elements just to figure out where it's going to go and find out who the killer is.

Also No More Heroes 2.

GOTY.. hmn.. Not to be unoriginal but I'll do a top 5 too o.=.o (...Considering I only got ahold of I think 8 games this year this should be easy..)

5Big Grinead Rising 2 - Never played the first one rumor has it that it's good but whatever. A few good laughs (How often do you get to beat a zombie to death with a dildo?) but other than that the characters are.. somewhat funny but otherwise unneeded (CURE? Really?)
4: Bioshock 2 - Bioshock was by far better, but not really unplayable, if your PC does nothing but games. If you've got a tablet good luck getting the game to run. However, after I got it to run it was okay, good for at least a single play though.
3: Fallout New Vegas - I took four steps out the door and looked out onto the new wasteland and was in shock- then crashed. Very, very buggy game. A few bugs were ironed out by friend's assistance but ignoring bugs the plot was much less linear than Fo3, as well as built in Iron-Sights, Survival, and a bit of a less black-and-white feel to morals helped it.
2: Minecrack Minecraft - Highly, highly addictive gameplay (For reasons beyond my understanding) great at giving me viable reasons to blow shit off (...which is starting to piss off everyone I know...) but still buggy as all get out. (Then again what can you expect from an alpha into beta game?)
1: Mass Effect 2 - Incredible game. Not many crashes, absolutely great writing, combat was lacking but the way the story is told more than makes up for it. (Five play-troughs and I'm still on the edge of my seat at that jump to the ship...) I plan to pre-order Mass Effect 3 as soon as possible.

And the complete failure award of 2010 goes to Shattered Horizon. I don't think I've ever had my hopes brought so damn high only to be smashed down so hard.

Shattered Horizon came out in 2009. I think it's a fine game, but the system requirements are so high that there was no way it would ever get a decent number of regular players.
