Welp this is the first time I've done anything like this so don't hate too hard but I decided to put together a full level of me playing Crysis 2 with some commentary on a level I've not played yet. Done in a Let's Play meets review/walkthrough style. Hopefully gives a good idea of what the gameplay is about to those who are unsure still:

Part 1:
Let's Walkthrough! Why Crysis 2 PC isn't as bad as they say it is (Part1)

Part 2:
Let's Walkthrough! Why Crysis 2 PC isn't as bad as they say it is (Part2)

No spoilers.

Just finished my overnight 'purchase' of this, can't wait to try it out.

..... I can't wait until I have the dosh to actually buy it.

I think that's one of the more satisfying feelings on a computer related note, deleting the torrent and it's associated files when the legal copy is purchased.

Alright, just beat it again on post-human warrior. Those guys at the end were just stupid easy. They charge right at you from the front, and as long as you have a k-volt or MIKE, they just kinda fall apart infront of you. Just make sure to take care of the last guy right infront of the gate, otherwise you get swarmed by a whole bunch of grunts.

Overall, still pretty easy for "post-human warrior". Think I died about... 6 times total?

Well, this is disappointing. I swap sound from 2.1 mode to 7.2(1) mode and Crysis refuses to start, go back to 2.1 and it launches fine.

Ok, best thing ever discovered last night.

I normally unplug my 360 controller when I'm not playing BC2 (GET TO DA CHOPPA) or DiRT 2 because I've got a hardwood conference table for a desk, so it's quite obnoxiously loud when it vibrates on the desk. I guess I forgot recently, because I fired up C2 again last night and wow does the game have some mad feedback strength setting.

<idea lightbulb>

Depending on your build this may or may not work for you, but find a way to strap your 360 controllers to your body in some way. I ended up strapping mine to my left side under my arm, upside-down with the controls facing away from my body, so the handles were pointing up and on either side of my arm. It's gotta be like, legit tight.

You feel like a giant toolbox when you're tying to find a way to tie a 360 controller to your body, but after the 1st salvo you get hit by, or the 1st cliff you jump off, or the 1st clip you rip off you'll be like wtf this is awesome.

Feel the game. (Without a $250 vest to do the same thing)

Personally I'm gonna be investigating getting a physically busted 360 controller to rip apart, add a dedicated power feed to, add about 6 more motors to, and integrate into a vest.

So apparently EA/Crytek/Gamespy/whoever really dropped the ball with Crysis 2 multiplayer authentication.

I spent about 2 hours earlier today playing multiplayer with a serial key I generated by smacking my keyboard until I had the appropriate amount of characters, then adding dashes where needed.

Had a bunch of fun, purchased game.

Yeah multiplayer is kinda fucked. It's functional when everything works right but it's so easy for it to fuck up.

1. The serial key check doesn't actually work. Using legit serials says that your serial is in use and you can't play multiplayer. Use bullshit made up ones (mine is all B's) and it'll let you play. It's full of pirates

2. The game will not save your stats unless you exit in-game. Since you can't change loadouts in game, this means if you make a loadout change you have to join a game and then quit in order for it to save your changes and your progress. If you forget this, you lose everything you've done sinec you last played.

3. Hackers everywhere. The game doesn't even have a  basic consistency check to see if your XML files are in-sync. Basic RAM hacks are easy to do too.

4. Balance is close to being fucked. The only worthwhile weapon is the scar because it has great damage, no recoil and good RoF. It also has every attachement you'll ever need. Sure you can make kills with the m60 and sniper and SMG and such, but by and large the Scar is the most versatile and generally "best at everything" gun, so everyone uses it. It has no weaknesses, and can easily kill in 2-3 hits somehow. I've freqently sniped someone, missed a shot, they turn around and kill me with a scar from a distance of about 200m or so in less than a second.

5. Hit detection is totally fucked most of the time. One moment you'll kill like a machine and all your shots seem to hit, the other moment somehow you keep missing, it takes you 3-5 seconds of constant fire to kill while they turn around and axe you at full health in less than a second. Melee's will frequently take 5 hits to kill while other times you'll die to two hits from a melee at full health.

5:02 AM - ^6Dr. Pos: its just like blops
5:02 AM - ^6Dr. Pos: it has potential
5:02 AM - ^6Dr. Pos: but its shit away with poor design decisions
5:03 AM - ^6Dr. Pos: both blops and crysis 2 have no real anticheat
5:03 AM - ^6Dr. Pos: one is badly implimented and one is non existant
5:04 AM - ^6Dr. Pos: if crytek patched in PB or something more people would play
5:07 AM - Fractal: who the fuck thought releasing a multiplayer game with literally no anticheat was a good idea
5:07 AM - Fractal: literally none

Pretty much. I seriously was hoping for a good multiplayer, but given all of this, I just marked it off as another CoD game. As far as weapon balance goes, like you said, you start off with the best weapon in the game. Perfect accuracy, low recoil, high damage, quick reload speed. I took the shotgun for a spin and went 1:10. Next round went back to the scar, 10:1.

Though, I quit completely when I found out they pull the same crap they seem to always have to pull when it turned into TF2 when I kept getting hit by grenades (grenade launcher) and rockets. WHAT PLACE DO THESE EVEN HAVE IN THIS GAME? Rocket and grenade launchers made sense in games like Quake or UT because you could move around at the speed of light and easily dodge those, and even makes sense in TF2 because you can take a few rockets before dying. Problem is, in most modern FPS's where you can't run 5 meters without gasping for air, any of those guarantees weapons a kill.

I'm done. Call me when MP doesn't suck and maybe I'll come back. I just want another game so I don't have to rush back to TF2 for my MP fix.

Patch today:

http://www.mycrysis.com/forums/viewtopic...40&t=20296

Apparently patch notes are not totally complete

Said patch is live now.

Quote:• Further improved anti-cheat measures
• Fix for spurious characters appearing when initiating text chat
• Fix for Chatlog doesn't disappear after kill cam
• Fixed occasional login issues
• Changed VOIP defaults
• Fixed some UI aspect issues on multiple monitors
• Added option for crouch toggle in MP & SP
• Fixed a bug where players lost Nano Catalyst points after restarting the game
• Filter settings in server browser are now retained
• Default player count required to start a game from the lobby lowered to 4
• Fixed issue related to “Deleting Reference Counted Object Twice” error that appeared for some users with strict router/firewall settings
• Fixed issue of not being able to melee after dying
• Fixed issue where some video cards were being stated as unsupported

We'll have to wait and see.

Just for fun last night, I hopped on a MP server, found a hidey hole and cloaked really fast.

Before my energy bar ran out, I had it patched for infinite energy, never de-cloaked that round. Infinite ammo was patched in less than 45 seconds later.

No recoil was a little tricker given how much I had to shoot (I was attempting to remain hidden while doing this) while finding the offsets I needed, that took about 4 minutes.

Working with only a modified version of Cheat Engine, I had working infinite ammo, energy and no recoil in multiplayer in less than 5 minutes, and that was working from scratch.

I could have saved the offsets and had a working C2 MP trainer made in under 10 minutes of actual work.

:-\

I hope this patch does something, MP is mad fun.

On a plus note, the game now launches from icon click to main menu in about 5 seconds, which is like 20 seconds shorter than before this patch.

Oh god dam- I turn my back for one second, and this is what Crytek pulls behind my back.

http://www.thetechgame.com/News/sid=1562...eaked.html

Yeah, a $10 map-pack. At least 2 of those being direct rips from the single player campaign. Some rehash of maps for a multiplayer game still incredibly broken even a month after launch. I know the coffin was already sealed up nicely, but this is just the last nail in the bloody thing.

I'll be over here far, away from that game, if you need me. Someone tell me if Brink turns out to be as good as I hear it's supposed to be.

I hopped on a few nights before my HDD blew up, multiplayer was a little better. There's still obvious cheats, but the anti-cheat seems to have shut down every 12 year old running around smacking with no anti-cheat cheats.

The insane time between rounds and console faggot short rounds are still there though.

I still chuckle a little when I get killed by a guy manning a mounted HMG, who is facing 90 degrees away from me, when I decloak his xhair instantly pops to my head and fires *one* bullet though.

brink gameplay footage looks goddamn awful. well, not awful. just ultra generic. prob would've been a good game if it was released 5 years ago

Also, multiplayer balance patch supposdily next week along with some other fixes. Not sure if DX11 is included in this or not (probably not).
