Yup though I have no idea what that is.  All I know about the R4 is that it will let me use Pokesav and pirated games, and I"ll figure out the rest when it gets here.  Site says shipping should be ~2 weeks.

50 minimum, the wifi flat battling will lower anything to 50, but it will not raise something up to 50

Minor oversight since I finally went to test everything...


Basically the game doesn't let you 6v6 flat...I was under the impression it did. Its bring 6, pick 3, now we can go with that if people want, a bit easier to train to 50.


The other option is for people to either use, the 500mb Fake GTS to engineer their pokemon or get rare candies as hold items on fodder pokemon to raise up to 100. Or use an action replay / R4 Rom to give yourself infinite rare candies or set the pokemon's level to 100.

Or you could grind the old fashioned way to 100.


I will be honest in saying I RNG'd my team, but there's probably no way in hell I'm going to have the time to grind all 6 to 100 given the free time that I have. (Or want to put wear and tear on my 3DS/DSLite by using the battle subway + coins trick)

How about 3 "3 vs 3" battles?

Between the first two you must pick your whole team, then, on the third you can pick any 3 pokemons (teams can repeat) from your team (so you know, you can be more prepared).

If someone defeats the other with only the first two teams, there's no need to fight the third one

As for my own personal 2 cents, I care much more for strategy, but I do see a "legit" argument having merit. The problem is Gen IV had nice 6v6 Lv50/100 Singles or Doubles. Now if you want to do singles or doubles with equal footing level wise, its bring 6 pick 3 for singles 4 for doubles.


So, why did gamefreak take this out?


I think they wanted to try to make online random battling faster, its much harder to rage quit when its simply 3v3 (Though...75% of the times Ive won in random matchups, they rage disconnect when the match is reporting or mid-match), and that's fine for random Wi-Fi battling, but why did this extend to Friend Code battling? There's a whole slew of options listed when you set up a game, but none of them are editable, if anything I think to expand options they would have made them all adjustable, its not a hard thing to do...

In my limited experience doing random wi-fi, it really is that...bring 6 pick 3 can horribly skew things, even viewing the other person's team and trying to choose doesn't really help all that much, you end up either with 3 pokemon the other person can't handle, or vise versa, then kicking yourself "If only I'd have brought X to counter their Y".


Whats even more odd is that Flat 6v6 still does exist, but its limited to IR, yes, in person IR, where you have to set both DS systems on a flat surface a few inches apart, that is the only way within the game's programing that you can do it.


For myself personally, I ordered an AR last night so I can do 6v6 100s, simply because between working 9-5, running the TF2 server, hat-making, cosplay making, and programing, I don't have the time to grind to 100, which is also something the games makes intolerably slow if you want to just battle wild or trained pokemon. Nor do I wish to risk permanent damage to my DS/3DS by using the daycare trick with the battle subway, where you basically let the game walk in circles for 12 hours.

If people want to be purists about it we can do bring 6 pick 3, personally Id rather do 6v6s since that is much more strategy oriented than the guessing game that bring 6 pick 3 seems to be. However, doing 6v6 means that those of us with AR might have to help people set their levels to 100.

I view this as fixing what Nintendo broke, and have no intentions of using the AR to alter anything other than the number of rare candies that are in my backpack  :p

Yes, as long as the egg move set is legal, there are some combos that are not possible....(and I may or may not already be packing a Hydreigon with dark pulse...)

If we're going the rare-candy buffing route, I dunno. I'm kinda wary about giving my team to my opponents... nah, I'm just fucking with ya. If you offer this support for everyone I'm good. In fact, I'll ask my good buddy if he'd be willing to help. I suggest, though, only rare candying to 99 so the EVs all apply correctly. Other than that, I'm for the Rare Candy boosting. Also caff, come at me bro, my team has hard counters for that :U

I like the bring 6, use 3. It is much faster. Plus you can still use all 6 if it is best of 3. Back to ev training.

If you don't have an AR, there's a way to upload your Pokemon via GTS (it doesn't take the Pokemon, it just pulls its stats and rejects it from being sent, so it essentially makes an online clone). Then you can download the .pkm file, edit it in Pokesav or whatever program you prefer, then load the .pkm file into your account on the site and send it to your game through GTS again.

That's the site. No AR required, no flashcarts, it can all be done with a legit cartridge. Just need to edit Wi-Fi settings. Pretty cool.
