yeah i don't understand what more maps will bring to the table other than making it harder to balance for competitive play. this isn't like csConfused.

All of which you don't have to spend cuz the game is free to play. People only spend money on LoL because they like the game enough that the purchase is worth it to them, sure I don't think it's worth it to pay $20 for a skin but the person who bought it surely does and that's entirely their choice. No one makes you buy anything that's up for sale in LoL. Also you're begrudging a company for trying to make money off their game Tongue But this is probably a discussion best left for another thread Tongue

So Na'Vi won the dota 2 championship, hopefully the beta will begin soon(I wish it was right now). Another interesting competitive side note, 46 heroes were available during the gamescom tourney, and I noticed pretty much the same pool of 10 being picked every time. Does that mean the top players believe that roughly 60% of the heroes in that 46 hero pool are not even viable for competitive play? I'm not sure whether they have tier lists for the original but it would be interesting to compare.

between the tournament players they will have liked those 10 the most. in an invitational tourney (especially for $1 million) they won't pick heroes they haven't put considerable time in. once the game is out to the masses is when you'll see more diversity.

[/quote]plus there was a small hero pool, so some of the strong counters to these heroes might have been not in yet, one of the small side effects of still being in beta

there was a spreadsheet of the wins/losses of each hero used and how many times they were used, ill try and find it again

I hear the beta is starting on Monday.  I'm looking forward to trying out Weaver and Puck.

Am I the only one that isn't blown away by those tournament videos? I mean the maps look pretty cool but the heroes don't have much in the way of good artwork about them and their skills don't seem to be visually distinctive (I have no idea how mechanically distinctive they are).

Like I said it's mostly nostalgia that brings me back. Gameplay wise it really doesn't impress me either, but hopefully there will be other game types that bring more to the table.

Word is we get the beta the 12th, a week after Dragon*Con (and when I've fully recovered)
