MOBA is more of a genre, with ARTS being a subgenre

well the term multiplayer online battle arena is kinda broad. where the term action real time strategy more closely relates to what is going on in dota.
and anyone who calls it the dota genre is an idiot. that's like calling fps games the wolfenstein genre.

You guys are horribly biased because MOBA is a Riot-invented term and ARTS is literally the concatenation of the genre names Action and Real-Time Strategy.

I've seen Action RTS thrown around for HoN and DotA before DotA2 was even announced. MOBA came right about when LoL went full public.

Genre names: Serious business. Wikipedia just refers to it as the 'Dota' genre anyways.

Dota is an RTS in the same way that Final Fantasy X is a sports game.  MOBA makes a hell of a lot more sense.

aeon of strife was always considered an arts though, which is what dota is technically based off of
