I know what it is. Spies disguises show half health. Do you ever spycheck somebody with full health? Also, a lot of spies disguise as pyro, but because that pyro isn't holding left click and spinning in circles you know it's a spy.

wrong, its the fact that most spies run right at your medic or anywhere but the enemy line that give them away, we dont spy check people infront of us, but if someone comes towarsd you you instantly check em.

Here's another problem.


Most spies go, backstab, run away, redisguise, repeat. Why is running away the hardest part? There should at least be a 2-3% increase of speed WHEN he is not disguised and cloaked. In case you don't know...

Scout = 133%
Medic = 107%
Engineer, Pyro, Sniper, Spy = 100%
Demoman = 93%
Soldier = 80%
Heavy = 77%
(normal speeds, when going backwards, they go 90% of their speed)

Medic (most likely) got the speed increase because if the person they're healing dies, the Medic needs to get away and find someone else quickly. (MY opinion.) That's why I think that the Spy should at least get a 2% increase to get away from Pyros that have a super long range with their flamethrowers.


Most opinions on here is that people who do play Spy are NOT a good Spy. That is their opinion, but I am sure I am a better Spy than others, but ever since the Heavy update, consistency has been a factor of why I cannot play the Spy. My problem is that I can make the backstabs, but it will either do the long stab, allowing the player to shift a bit to the left, getting away, or that I take one person down and then the other two is safe because it doesn't register the backstabs while getting away.
This is my problem, not the whole giant big problem everyone is having and I'm pissed, just that after the update, something went wrong with the Spy.

Sorry man, but a Spy SHOULDN'T be able to run in and backstab a group of 3 people unless those people really suck, or the Spy is incredibly lucky.  Being a support class, you're there to throw a hitch into a defense or offense, just like a Sniper, not mow down the whole team.  And  unfortunately, unlike a Sniper, you're going to extreme risk killing right in the midst of the enemy, so most of the time you shouldn't be able to get away if you kill someone in a group of people.

The backstab consistency is annoying, but your expectations of what the class should be seem unreasonably high.

Then you must have no idea how many times I've gotten 3 and got away. My expectations aren't high if I was able to do it before. It's the same.

My only other expectation is the little speed increase. It's doesn't seem like much, and if you say that Spy doesn't change the game outcome, then I presume that this little speed increase won't be a problem to many.

I think that people want too badly to get that chain stab of like 3+ people. Its really nice, but hontesly, the only chain stabs you are going to get are likely to be 2, one on the medic and then who ever they are healing.


Hit detection is a pain and needs to be fixed, if you are getting caught via spy checking too much you're doing it wrong.


Go for little groups of one or two stabs instead of chains. Also if you whiff, don't keep trying, like if you miss the medic, just go straight for the heavy then get the  heck out of dodge before someone kills you. One other thing I would think though is that spying on our servers is generally harder because of all talk and a generally high caliber of skill amongst our regulars Smile

Personally I wish more spies would focus on sentries and medics.  I mean I don't play spy too often because it is definitely a class with a steep learning curve but I will often see spies go for whoever they can, or run up kill streaks on random people.  That being said from playing spy I know it can be really damn hard to take down a sentry if there is more than one or paranoid engies.  One unlockable I'd like to see would be a sentry paralyzer gun.  Low clip (maybe 3-6 bullets total and you can only load one at a time), no damage but turns off the sentry for like 5 seconds or 3 if an engy is hitting it.  I think that would be fair.

Spy needs the tranquilizer gun back. Low damage, no clip, just like 15 - 20 shots per life, on hit, blurred vision, 66% speed reduction for some pre-determined length of time. This can serve two purposes, one is escape, is allows you back peddling to outrun a pursuer and keeps them from accurately firing on you.

The second thing would be to make it easier to back stab someone who is dodging a lot, mostly thinking of a medic, but it could apply to any class. This gun has been a staple in previous iterations of Team Fortress and I think it would make the spy a much more viable flag runner.
