I spotted that I'm resting my left elbow on the chair arm; what else have I done wrong?

Have you tried using your star power?

Do you have the rhythm part down yet? The song is like 3 chords rhythm. That will help for the feels of the timing of the lead.

Thanks Rummy, I'll level up on the rhythm part more.

Here's me trying some Fall Out Boy. Delicious Drop-D goodness where the bottom 3 strings open make a chord. I can do that!

Rocksmith 2014. They fixed the menus, so they say. And they fixed the "how the hell do I play that symbol" by simplifying the notehead, and drawing the sustain tail different ways.

Also I've been playing 6 months with the guitar on the wrong knee. Now to retrain my arms. Ouch.

For those of you who still haven't got the 2012 version,
rocksmith 2012 is 75% off on gmg +20% voucher GMG20-GNQYR-URU7M
Rocksmith 2014 is coming out this month: 100% of the DLC and 95% of the stock songs in Rocksmith 2012 will be added to the song list on the 2014 version, but you have to own Rocksmith 2012 to get those songs.

That link's broken and a search on GMG finds nothing. Which is a shame since it actually sounds really cool. In case it unborks itself, a few questions.  Would you actually recommend Rocksmith for learning guitar? What's the best(cheapest) place to get the USB adapter thingy.

Amazon Prime Master Race, also known as getting free shipping with your moviewatching subscription. Once you don't have to add shipping in your purchases, you find all the things are cheaper on Amazon.

Rocksmith 2012 is primarily a practicing tool. It's not a teaching tool; you'll still have way better results with someone who can look at you play either in person or on Skype, and help you work on improving defects in posture and positioning. The game will tell you when you have struck the right notes, but it doesn't penalize you for hitting 'extra' notes, leading to a high scoring song that sounds horrible because you didn't mute some strings. By itself it's not going to make you a better guitarist. You should still plug into your practice amp and play outside of Rocksmith to learn what you sound like without the computer auto-tuning for you.

Marty at http://guitarjamz.com or Justin at http://justinguitar.com are great teaching resources for free.

I've had a lot of smoke blown up my ass about what's going to be better about RS2014, supposedly the teaching mode is more than just a name, but I'll have to see for myself.

I second justinguitar, he got me through a lot of the early days.

I will also add privatetricker. http://www.youtube.com/user/privettricker He's more advanced, never uses tabs, rarely shows a tutorial, but damn is his chording and tone spot-on.
