I have a 6-0 shaman arena going. It's doing pretty well.  I've enjoyed playing with Sneed's Old Shredder.

Play ramp druid. I've been using a hybrid lately (2 FoN / 2 Ancient of War) along with the typical ramp stuff and it pretty much owns hunters and rush pallys.

I just feel like Hunter is the embodiment of everything anti-fun in Hearthstone.

God damn these new cards man.

My only ranked-worthy deck is mech mage and I feel like the new cards just boned rush decks.

It requires extremely favorable circumstances for me to beat a warrior now, I'll have top tier opens and still be helpless.

That +4 armor hero power bullshit is just too much coupled with the phenomenal level of board control he has.

That and the +15 health shaman spell.

If you have everything for mech mage you should be able to make a half way decent tempo mage deck. That has been doing really well for me lately. Also midrange hunter is pretty good.

the deck is strongest turns 1-4. If I don't have significant tempo by then I'm usually done. Doctor boom and Antonidas can only win so many late games.

Got up to rank 5 with my mech mage.

In a certain way the higher ranks (lower number) seemed easier to progress than rank 15' did at the beginning of the month (I was getting matched up with infinite warriors).

I did just get my ass handed to me by a freeze mage though. I'm glad that deck fallen out of fashion because that matchup for me SUCKS

I'm really getting sick of all my never lucky moments in this game. I can't get past rank 13/14 because of it. No matter how well optimized my deck or how well I know it the opponent always has the exact counter and the exact cards needed to ensure the win.

I got destroyed today by an aggro paladin who completely reversed my handlock comeback play by doing a turn 6 equality/consecrate.

So what you're saying is that if you were playing a real game (like MTG) is you hate playing against Blue decks :p

Mech mage is nice to level up fast by rushing but still has great control capabilities against hunters and zoo decks.

It also happens to be probably the cheapest competitive deck out there.
The only expensive cards in my mech mage are Antonidas and Dr Boom.
The only other rares are
2 Azure Drakes (quite important draw power)
2 Goblin Blast Mages (seriously a ridiculous value efficiency with effect)
1 Unstable Portal (because that card alone has won many, many games. entirely unnecessary though)

Dr Boom is nice but not necessary, just sub a Flamestrike.
Antonidas on the other hand is the deck's win condition if the rush doesn't kill them (you NEED to save spare parts for him and probably wait til turn 8 to guarantee value)((stealth antonidas wins 80% of games))

The frustration that goes with using it is if you open up bad, you are almost certain to lose.
They should be on the ropes by turn 6 or 7 if you're going to win.

An opening hand with either a cogmaster or mechwarper is probably the most significant indicator of a win or loss in this deck.
Without at least one of those you're in bad, but not hopeless shape depending on matchup.

And oh god there is no better feeling than opening a cogmaster on a warlock. Either they waste a dark bomb on a 1 drop or the take damage damn fast.
Same goes for a snow chugger against warrior WEAPONS HATE HIM BECAUSE OF THIS ONE COOL TRICK

P.S. prepare to be aggravated by having a hand of tinkertowns and blast mages with no mechs on the field.
It happens often enough that I've thought about removing one tinkertown technician but a 3 drop 4/4 with a free spare part is simply too important to the deck.
You're probably in mediocre shape anyway if you have a clear field at that point.

The cards that are not necessary are unstable portal and flamecannon, I almost always find good use of one flamecannon though.

I finally went made it to 12 wins in Arena. Pro tips for success:
  • Play Paladin
  • Go for good early game picks above all else.
  • Buffs are a lot better in Arena, where removal is rare compared to constructed.
  • Srsly play Paladin.
Matter, I like mech mage and I'd try that deck if I actually had any decent legendaries besides Alexstrasza. I can't bring myself to dust half my collection for a few cards. As it is my mech mage setup tops out at Loatheb and Piloted Sky Shredder.

If you want I can teach you how to play freeze mage. It does require some epics, and I do have archmage in my deck, but you can make it work without him.

Paladin is really strong in arena right now. They have ways to make an entire board of dudes over a single turn, and a lot of the time, if you aren't killing them by turn 6-7, or at least aggressively controlling, you'll lose. Shaman is sort of similar, but it's board builders seem to be slower than the paladin ones.

My average wins dropped a bunch when TGT launched. I went from like 6 wins average down to 5. I'm around 5.5 now, I think. I'm curious if they'll actually put any effort into balancing arena and making more classes viable.
