MULTI-THREADING SUPPORT! YAY!

It would have to be wouldn't it? For the computers to process all that zombie AI effectively with little slowdown?

Of course. But TF2 with it's at times (depending on updates) shoddy optimization it could use proper multi-threading support. So maybe after this is released TF2 will get PROPER multi-threading.

Where the hell did you hear that bullshit?

Use the brain God gave ya. VOIP is required for a game based solely on it's Co-Op.

Indeed. Utter rubbish:

Quote:On allowing an "All-Talk" option for cross-team voice chat:

"We've talked about that. I personally prefer it. I used to hate it [in TF2]. Now I kind of like it sometimes, depending on the mood I'm in.

But in this, you're like, 'Hey Douuuuggg. Hey Douuuuugg. I'm over here. Ahhhh!' There is a ton of trash talk. It really is an evil game when you play it in Versus mode. But when people play co-op, you can hear them laughing down the hall. Co-op: it's laughing and having a good time, punctuated with profanity."

I didn't realise this had ever been in question anyway, the voice communication is built into the Source engine, is it not?

VOIP was never in question. The All-Talk function was. I remember the devs talking about it in the l4D411 forums a year ago.

I wish we could pre-purchase on Steam already...I just want to go ahead and buy so I won't spend all my money on all the games coming out in October.

Quote:As a result, we've just finished adding critical hits, respawn waves, flawless auto-team balancing, and facestabs to L4D, while removing anything that looked remotely like a grenade.
I kid, I kid.

Is that really funny? If they have enough awareness of how much hatred is around for crits and their ridiculously fucked hit-detection system to be joking about it, why the fuck aren't they doing something about rectifying the faults?

I found the last paragraph interesting. I was wondering just this morning how they'll play the next update timing-wise. Left4Dead's obviously going to be leeching some of the player base from TF2 so do they get an update out at the beginning of October for a good month's playtime before November? Release one simultaneously with L4D? Or just wait it out a while until shit's settled down again?

So this is available for pre-order now.  Is anyone buying this at launch?  I personally think $50 is wai to much for something I don't see as being any different than TF2, but I guess that's what happens when it has to be released for console as well.  I'll pick it up when it drops to $30 or so, unless I get it for a holiday present or something.

At least it's $10 cheaper on PC than on consoles. Smile

Indeed.  Except my RL friends are getting it for 360.  So while they are all sitting around the TV having fun im going to be cursing up a storm because I can't get used to the shitty controls without a keyboard/mouse combo
