Pretty much this. I have a hard time getting a consistent signal anywhere indoors or even within 20 feet of the building. I'm wonderin if I can use this as an excuse to end my contract early. I saw virgin now has an Android phone. It's not as good as the droid or whatever, but even if I got their lowest plan, it'd be about a third of what I'm paying now and includes unlimited data, texting, and 300 minutes.

Anyone have them? I'm actually thinking it's too good to be true. If this is actually the case and there's no strings attached, that'd mean Virgin is the one phone company in America that actually makes any sense.
I doubt you'll have an easy time getting out of your contract early without paying a ton of money for it, no matter how poor the phone service.
Protip: Battery life on the Droid sucks. Maybe 4 or 5 hours of total usage time, and I've needed to charge it everyday.

Still love it though. <3
I plug mine in to my netbook next to me every night since I use it as an alarm, so I don't have a problem with the battery.

every 15 minute fap alarm
i rooted my phone and my hero can last for like 48 hours

protip: don't use a task killer
I try to drain my Galaxy S Vibrant entirely before putting it on the charger. I heard batteries can develop memory which could mess up its lifespan.

Also, I <3 my galaxy. But my touchscreen goes unresponsive sometimes, so I held out until the 2.2.1 update via Kyes, but it didn't help, bull!
you phone has a lithium-ion battery which does not develop said memory effect

also, if you guys haven't rooted and put a custom rom on your phone yet you're doing it wrong.

oh and hek, cdma is so much better than gsm here it's not even funny.

Lithium likes to be topped up all the time, but not constantly plugged in. Constantly fully discharging of lithium batteries is bad for the life, but should still be done once a month or two for  maximum live span.

Get back to me in a year when no one makes CDMA phones anymore. The tech is so outdated, it's not even funny.
i'm aware, we just don't have a good gsm provider here

Samsung made a great phone with the SGS but the official software situation in the US is depressing, I'd put a custom ROM on that phone if I were you. Besides, custom roms are fun to play with.

only reason i don't do that is if my phone goes Hurp i want my warranty to be intact.
why would your phone go hurp?
You can always reflash the official ROM back when you need to send it back. Samsung made it very hard to brick the SGS.

Sent from my phone so if any words don't make sense, blame auto-correct.
Okay, so I'm gunna be switching from AT&T to Virgin Mobile since their rates are about a third of what I'm paying now for more than what I'm being offered. Condition of course is a limited selection of phones, but I found two phones that run Android (which is the end goal here), but I'm not sure which one I should get. There's the Samsung Intercept which has a physical keyboard which I definatly like, but I've heard some mixed reviews on it including a horrible battery life. Then there's the LG Optimus V that is touchscreen only, but has some pretty high reviews.

Has anyone used/know anything about these phones? I'm leanin on the optimus, but I'm still a bit worried since the last 3 phones I had were all pretty crappy.

Edit
Actually, I'm going with the Optimus. I've heard nothing but positive reviews about this thing, and for the price it's amazing.
I'd get CyanogenMod or something, but it seems like a lot of work.  ;D

That and looking at videos I don't see anything interesting enough to put the time into.

<- HTC Hero user.
Just got the Optimus today. Dear god this thing is amazing ;D

Getting a custom ROM on the hero is almost a requirement these days, the speed increase alone is worth it. (I had a hero myself before I left my previous work)
