Room for an RV?

Ehhhhhh

In the city, it would be on the street, not too sure. Neighbours might fuss but it could probably be done. At the lake... HeK will have to answer that one, not sure what can and can't be done out there. At my parent's? Heck yes.

Welcome to how I feel for every con ever.
Put me down as strongly interested. I'd probably try to do both ACEN and this thing if it's going to be later in the summer. I can't fully commit as of yet, also depending on the potential details, but I think it would be a lot of fun to come hang out in Canada with you guys in a more relaxed atmosphere than ACEN. I'd also definitely like to go check out downtown with you all if that's being considered.
Of course!

We're thinking we probably will also still do ACEN as well. May as well!
Pop me down as tentative, this sounds fun, but I'm unsure what my cash/availability situation will be next summer.
Added!

Also, Rummy, not sure if you were joking about the RV or not. HeK checked; if you bring the RV apparently the city won't allow it to be parked on the street overnight. It would have to be parked in a Walmart parking lot (there is one nearby).

Not sure what the rules for having it at the cabin are, it's a provincial park, we'd have to check that. But also there isn't a ton of parking space there; if it's huge, it may not fit (ha ha).
I'm sincere that I'm investigating the feasibility. I've a medical condition that requires electric, I'm too old to crash for the old sleeping-bag-on-the-floor routine, and I'm too proud to ask anyone to accommodate my needs.

Also, there's the possibility with an RV rental that I could pick up some roadies along the way, and the space could let us bring moar beer, musical instruments, and sex toys into America's Hat.

The road trip could start anywhere from Detroit to Chicago to Minneapolis.

If you know of specific RV restrictions (height, length, etc), that would be helpful to know.
HeK said that he isn't aware of a size restriction for Walmart lots.  But the city law says they can't be parked overnight on residential streets at all, sadly. I mean people do but I don't want you to get a fine.

Oh also be aware that crossing the border with an RV may be different. I recommend calling the border to see what they recommend.
I think we should make rough estimates for costs in USD and CAD for distance in terms of how much we should expect to spend heading up that way.  It should also help my planning out a bit more considering I should probably double whatever it would take to get from there and back to Milwaukee.  Or at least a list of what to bring/prepare for on the drive(for those of us driving) there.
Maybe make a sheet, see who can plan to go with who/carpooling, work out rough costs, etc. We do that every year for all the folks involved in our drive, helps split up costs later too.
Okay, vacation bidding time is finally coming around.

Bad news: I work in a very small department, not many of us can be off at the same time for vacation without pooching it for everyone else. Most of the summer time off is already booked (ACEN had to be booking priority, which I managed to get, yay).

It's looking strongly like this is going to be in late September. DON'T quote me on that yet; round one picks are done, could change significantly by the time I get round 2.

June is also still open, but that's pretty darn close to ACEN. I don't know if that works for others but I'm reluctant to book ALL my vacation time within a one-month span, basically.

So, the last half of September is likely what's going to be open for this (any later and it's too cold to do much camping comfortably for everyone).

Thoughts?
this is a thing? possibly maybe count me in
I know some people will have started class again by then, but at the same time I'm kind of in the same situation as you. It's not really ideal for me to take more time off right after having come back from ACEN.
I should have the final results on when is booked off this week.
Yeah, September would probably be a no-go for me since I'll have a 1 month old babby at that point.
Sorry, Donnie Sad

Its ok. Just means I bring babby dtrain next time.
BRBu Fest availability has been confirmed!

I was able to get July 23rd to the 31st off.

It was the best I could get; everything else filled up, and October was the next available, which would be way too late/cold to do anything fun. A few summer weeks were opened up after my first bidding round but this was all that was left by the time it got to me.

Hopefully this is good for at least some folks to come up and visit! The weather should be mighty fine by then, lots to do.
