I question your credibility.
Kor can't handle ze mouse.
I'd guess I have to move my mouse about 3 inches to move my cursor across my 1920-pixel wide screen. I also like not having to move my hand a foot just to turn around. Tongue
Do any of you guys know how to mess with the DPI for a generic mouse?

You can't really, its a hardware limitation.

worst idea ever. You should always have your mouse speed set to 6 in windows. Change your ingame sens if you want, but don't set windows speed to anything but 6.
Well no shit for that one.  I mean some way to change the sensitivity, not how fast the cursor moves.
The only way to change DPI is to get a mouse with more DPI. But you could overclock your usb port for you mouse so it takes more reports I have mine set to 1000 something.

I could try to explain it but this mouse optimization guide said it so much better so I'll let it talk for me
When I see people list their mouse settings, many players are putting themselves at a big disadvantage. Windows has a slider for setting pointer speed, but that doesn't mean gamers should use it. The reason is that changing a setting here can in no way make up for the dpi (resolution in counts per inch) a mouse has or doesn't have. Increasing the pointer speed even one notch, will make your cursor skip pixels. Losing pixel accuracy is not worth it when sensitivity is adjustable in-game. Lowering the setting here, throws away dpi from the mouse forcing you to use a use a higher, less precise sensitivity in-game.

At the highest setting, the cursor goes two pixels for each count. If you open up MS Paint, use the pencil tool, swing the mouse around to make circle patterns and notice how terribly notchy the edges are. This is not normal aliasing if you have the wrong settings in mouse properties it will make easily visible notches, not jaggies, it will look like teeth from a saw blade or something else bad. This is not the same as the normal stair steps on the edges of non antialiased graphics.

On the other hand, if you reduce the pointer speed setting, even by one notch, you get two different mouse sensitivities and your cursor will move, slowly to the right, and faster to the left. This is probably even worse than raising it, so KEEP THIS ON DEFAULT!! The default setting is the 6th notch in the middle and it wont interpolate or filter your mouse inputs, so you get the dpi your mouse is advertised. This may take some getting used to but it's worth it, you need to live with it if you do not want your per pixel targeting or sane mouse response compromised.

Tonight's Woot is 1 Razer Diamondback 3G Gaming Mouse at $30. Not a bad deal if you're looking for a gaming mouse.

I bought it!  So pretty and shiny *drools*

I did buy this off that Woot deal because the Logitech thing I use is okay but annoys me in several ways.  Initial impressions from a night of TF2'ing: I don't care for the side buttons.  The scroll wheel is an improvement over previous mouse with better indentations for weapon scrolling.  1600 dpi does let me sweep the screen faster, so yay, gaming mouse mission accomplish.  It has a little more heft than the old one, and I like that.  The ergonomics of it are decent, I guess, but on an odd note, the tactile bumps on the right side for the buttons are kinda.. sharp.  They're bothering my poor pinky finger.  It's very sensitive Sad .  The mousewheel is an appealing green beacon, and the side lighting is subtle.

Those goddamn side buttons, though... either I'm going to have to get used to them or they'll drive me to anger.  Side buttons are a deal breaker!  That's why I'm squinting at them so hard!  I disagree with them making one rocker button piece for each pair of side "switches".  I would have preferred they just fuck it and have one button on each side instead of doing that.

I'm still debating on whether I like the mouse, but it feels like some quality, so I'll keep playing with it to try to like it more.  Score for now:  7 / 10.
Yeah... I didn't get it.  I'm a cheap sunnava bitch, and my mouse is pretty good other than the scroll wheel being entirely useless.  But I don't like scroll wheels for FPS games anyways.
Buy an ob/ob mouse. They are awesome.
