This is actually the first Pokemon game I've been tempted to buy in a long time. Mostly because of dem nostalgia goggles (aka gen 1 starters), but it looks like a pretty solid entry as well. I think it's also the first Pokemon game to use fully-rendered 3D models instead of sprites.

Black and White did a really nice job of recreating a Red/Blue experience. You really should check them out as well.
