Also there have been so many instances of games that are both Steam/non-steam having retarded problems when steam can't connect that I personally prefer to get non-steam copys when possible.

didnt see that it was 43, but it's a steamworks game, you cannot play it without using steam

Hence the reason why he may as well get retail. It's cheaper and has all the same features as buying it direct from Steam. Hell, he should load up on more Steamworks games while he has that discount. You people are really confusing.
I guess...well, I don't know. I still think that 60% discount sounds REALLY generous, even for the army. Why don't you have your mom's boyfriend use the code or whatever to show the final price? Not as in what you've calculated, as in what Newegg says.
