I started writing a story as the "History"...

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/orgs/BRBU

Also, They've released their gamescom presentation on youtube.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0grZDNdUYY

There is a TON of ships available now (but still not many available to the dog fighting module). But this is seriously awesome.

They're adding Coop to the AI Arena Commander... we'll be able to play together finally! Yay!

And they're adding racing! Sweet. Apparently in the persistent universe you can race as a profession.

They've also added "six axis control" meaning you do get true space flight experience, up, down, left, right, forward, back, and rotation.

These additions will be in about two weeks (the persistent world is still being worked on, but the race and other stuff is being added in next update).

After that update, they're adding multiplayer crew... so... that's freaking sweet.
For those of you who have contributed, or intend to get the game, they will be making it so your hangar you select affects your starting area. It is explained during the gamescom presentation. Where would those of you interested like to start out? Heavily established colony? Mining colony area? Kind of in between, on the fringes? etc.

exciting stuff!

First Mining and Salvage Ship Concept Posted, looks pretty bad ass

Also, need to know the kind of environment we want to start in (your hangar decides this). As of right now my Hangar selection would (according to lore) put us into a well populated environment (like a city or dense population center).

This is one of the ships I have... and this is a great commercial....

As stated before Star Citizen is a universe being built. These are commercials that will be shown on screens and broadcast sets throughout the universe.

Shoot I'd buy one.
So there was a metric fuckton of updates at CitizenCon this year... I can't really point them all out, but here's the YouTube of Star Citizen, you can browse yourself. But I'll also post the big one.

Here's the Channel

Here's the latest (biggest most) awesome video (Year in Review):
CitizenCon 2014: Year in Review Video

But you can watch the entire CitizenCon presentation too (2 hrs):
Citizen Con 2014 Complete Show

The team is prepping to unveil the FPS module at a PAX Australia event (though not inside of PAX, so if anyone IS in Australia they can go see it).
PAX Australia 2014 Fan Event COMPLETE SHOW

Full Pax Australia show... yet again this stuff gives me chills.

Except the cheesy scripted intro, but whatever. The meat of it is awesome.

Top Gear Homage Commercial for the Origin M50
Galactic Gear Reviews the Origin M50

So they've added in G-Force things (like grey-out/blurred vision view) if you pull G's too fast... it's pretty nifty...

FPS Module is being developed by Ill Fonic (the guys who made Nexuiz, and effectively the first licensee to release a CryEngine 3 title).

If you want to see just the FPS Module, here's that
PAX FPS DEMO
For those of you whom may have had their interest drummed up by the recent posts.

You can get Arena Commander through instructions followed through this link:
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/download

Must purchase game package of $30 or more, most ships (if you go to the Pledge menu under store) over the cost of $30 will also include a Game Package.

Note: Your login to the web site is also your log in to the patcher. Your log in is NOT your call sign and your call sign CAN NOT be the same as your login. This means my callsign is not FlyingMongoose (but my login is). And your Profile name is also different (I know it's confusing but I'm guessing it's the best way they could integrate their systems)

My Profile name is Mongoose, my Callsign is FlyingMongoose0, and my Login is FlyingMongoose (a bit confusing I know). So keep that in consideration when signing up.
Great third party info menu of YouTube videos.

But was there a ballpit?

That's a great question.... I believe I will ask on their forums.

So while I'd LOVE to get these ships, I can't afford it (guess I'm saving up in the persistent universe to get one).

Meet the CIG Devs Episode 2

I unfortunately missed alerting you guys to the $20 Aurora MR Game Package Sale, but still, only $30 basically gets you access to Arena Commander, Hangar Module, the FPS Module when it comes out, and straight up the Whole Game as it is released (the game is quite literally being released in pieces because there are no publishers to deal with, there's no packaging, no nothing).

So when you ask: "What's the release date?"

There isn't one. It literally a situation of "As soon as we're done with a part of it, we're releasing it to the players."

You want game packages here ya go:
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/game-packages
Note that if you want Arena Commander and get a Game Package that does not necessarily include access, you MAY need the following:
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledg...-Commander

What you can currently do:
Get in your Hangar and look at any pre-ordered ships (or Hangar Flair you may have purchased).
Dog Fighting (Within Arena Commander), some ships available (not based on pre-order or ships purchased), you can do this against other players, or AI, or Co-Op against AI.
Racing against other players.

All modes also support a no-other-player or no-ai "free mode" (lets you get use to your ships).

There was a recent forum post on the Star Citizen forums that actually has someone claiming that the Arena Commander module alone has restored his faith in space flight combat simulators entirely. (But Star Citizen isn't just that), it's basically going to be a situation of life-in-space.
So over last week they managed to jump up from $63 Million all the way to $66 Million.

Major things:
Pets will be in the Persistent Universe
Squadron 42 planned for end of next year (I've been corrected, it's Q4).
Everywhere a multi-player cockpit or control is implied within Squadron 42, in those ships that are available to players, there will be multi-player crew.
Every Major Manufacturer within the universe will have their own unique HUD, so if you have an Anvil Aerospace ship, and an RSI Constellation, your HUD interface will be completely different, not just due to the ship type, but the manufacturers will have distinctive HUDs as well.

Reference for some of these (there is seriously WAY too much to share, I HIGHLY recommend reading this):

Designing the Carrack (Capital Class Ship):
Designing the Carrack

The coolest thing about Star Citizen is due to it's 100% crowd funded existence is the fact that every new major development ,design decision, and even many design discussions are published as soon as they take place, but many things are actually decided through forum interaction with the people who support the title! Seriously this is being built by the players; hell most of the people interviewed and working there now are people who just want to play a game like this.
Huge update to Arena Commander today.  All Single Seater Ships are now Flyable plus this should be the release of the 64 bit client making the area in which you fly significantly larger.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-...0-Released

Here's the latest Manual
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/media...1-0-V6.pdf

I really can't post up all the changes yet because... well... there's a HUGE number!
Okay, lots to see here, I still haven't been able to hop into the Arena Commander just yet, but I can tell you this, I've been able to load the client, it took 6 GB of RAM to open it and run it (and it has nothing to do with Efficiency of Coding, it has everything to do with fidelity of assets). Doesn't mean it can't run on lower systems, but... it definitely makes my stuff chug.
