From experience, best way to rank up is to not play at all. 75 doesn't mean crap if you only get a like 5 for killing them anyways.

So your definition of "play harder" is to perpetually pull a 15:1 kdr? Sure sounds great.

Man, I've always been in the same boat as you. I've still got lots of screenshots of me getting 3+ kdr and losing hundreds of points back when I got butthurt about it. The solution is lame, but just stop caring about stats--or specifically points. The game is a lot more fun when you're not pressing the key you have bound to session to check how many points you lost after each death. Once you start having more fun, you'll probably notice your performance improve as well.

This, also, I think pulling up stats in game is highly unreliable  :-\

Ive had it say "you lost points" then go to check the actual hlstatsx and it says you gained points  :p

I like stats for keeping track of how many kills I've got with any given gun, or how many airblasts and whatnot, points mean poo.

Pretty much. The points should balance out and show one's skill, but that only works with a fixed userbase. Since we constantly have new users the whole model goes out the window.
It's nice to see KBig Grin ratios and kills-per-minute.

What it really needs to track is deaths by crits, medic healings and kills while ubercharged, etc.

I'd like something that shows kills while being healed, that totally changes KBig Grin.

Kills by crits it tracks, but not deaths by :\

It's been some time since I worked with HLX, but I'm gonna look into retooling it to not count erry player, but only those with >= X kills. Unless they added the option to do that since I last saw the backend, last I knew it was only possible to adjust when a player is counted for the scoreboard, but it will always count minus points for ranked people getting killed by unranked.


Spys and Pyros get all sadface over crit kill counter, our get skewed.


I love the KBig Grin counter for individual players, I like seeing just how bad liquid is always raping me.
i wish my overall k:d was reset Sad especially since we kept the stats from 2008 when we started tracking stats again a fucking year later

Well, you *could* ask HeK really nicely to just pop in with phpmyadmin or HLX backend and simply delete you from the sql database, then it would be reset...  :-X
I wish k:d ratios included assists (a:k:d), then I wouldn't be penalised for my ~1000hours as medic =S

Also, HeK, you should change the award for l''étranger to "the stranger" or somthing similar (ranged doesn't make any sense)
There really needs to be a 'TF2X' trunk, dedicated to TF2 game-play.

Guess it's time to go spy again, I dropped to two. Gotta keep that rank up!
I would have enjoyed being here when stats reset. It sure makes it easier to be near the top.

Although... it hasn't been hard catching up so far. I expect to be in the top 50 within the next couple days. Big Grin
