i stick on my point on starting a new map whenever notch decides to add more biomes
a new start is cool anyway

also i believe runecraft simply takes the fun out of traveling and exploring
when we need to use teleporter to get around places, its an obvious sign that its gotten a bit big

Yeah, then do what I do and WALK.

All the people bitching are those who want to live near everyone else but still have their own strip mines and building spaces. This leads to drama.

Don't use runes if you don't want to, and build in a place devoid of people who bitch constantly, and you'll have plenty of fun.

Sounds tortious to me.

It's actually quite fun, Surf, but I would stick to single player for now.  MP still has a host of issues, and clearly our server is also home to some drama Wink

I meant Tort-ious, ironically we were just going over these fire hypos in Torts.

knew it was a bad pun >Sad

also teleporters own, whoever doesn't like them has obviously never been lost or been unable to refind a certain location

Develop a general sense of direction, and use landmarks. I put down torches and create tall beacons to mark locations of interest and my path of travel. The compass is also quite helpful for getting your bearings, along with the clouds.

Being lost is part of the game for me, and it feels nice to be able to find my way back after being lost for a while.

Also, /home is a nice last resort for the desperate.
w/e. it's a building game. building shouldnt take backseat to effing travel.
Holy shit people, calm the fuck down. Why is this game such a drama magnet?

I'm sorry about your forest, rilnac. It was super epic. I hope it can be grown safely again sometime in the future.

I don't see how having to travel has anything to do with building. You can build anything anywhere, so long as you don't get into territory disputes.

im saying before runecraft you'd run around, find something cool, try to remember the spot and go home to retrieve materials, haul them all back in multiple trips and build a cool thing no one will see because its in the middle of nowhere.

now, you make a waypoint, go home, link it, take your shit and teleport back and forth and then tell people about your cool thing with the cool waypoint. you save time, people save time, everyone enjoys cool thing.

im not sure how this is making people rage, it's a neat thing that lets you do neat things in less time.

also i will never be a fan of resets because history is cyclical and all that. you end up with a lifespan on everything and it really makes people not want to play

anyhoo this is just stupid drama.

the real important question is, can we get a hack for the server software so minecraft.net going down doesnt fucking impact us?
i -think- you can turn off name authentication auto-bans so you can play offline, you might not have working names tho

Also if I get the time and stone to do it, Ima make some big-ass spheres. I could use iron or gold bricks tho so I can make BALLS OF STEEL or BALLS OF BRASS, which would be even better.

except torches/generic towers mean literally nothing for navigation, it just means someone has been there at some point in time, not necessarily you

also, i've lost stuff underground, gl finding an underground tower. also i got lost trying to navigate from cielo back to my tower. if it weren't for the oblique map and /home i would've never found my way back after getting seriously lost.

i've decided i agree with diglett
