<3 you for posting that.

Rap Album Wrapup Time Tongue

As for me... Listening to "Watch The Throne," A collaboration between Kanye West and Jay-Z. Overall the album is pretty great! A album about the grandeur of high-class living, thankfulness, etc... One song stood out though.  "Murder To Excellence" It told of a man who was shot and killed in the street, and it expands on the topic. I recommend a listen. A couple other songs that are meant for a more chill atmosphere are in there, as are some for jammin'.
Two from the album that I like.
Gotta Have It
Ni**as in Paris

Verdict: Download and give it at least 1 listen through the whole thing. Use your headphones.

Next up, "Tha Carter IV"
So baaaad. So much sheoplllllllleeeee.

Verdict: Nononononononoooooooo. This is the type of rap that gives rap a bad name. Hell, it gives bad rap a bad name. There were only like, 2 songs where I could listen through the whole song, and those had a heavy presence of a guest singer/rapper. I guess if you like lil wayne, give it a listen... This album is going to sell better than WTT, and I am sad because of that...

TL;DR

Watch The Throne:
Creative, Grandeur, Original, Worthy of a listen.

Carter 4 :
Nonononononononono

WTT>C4
ALL DAY EVERYDAY

kanye west used to be really good when he produced now most of the things he does are bad jay-z isnt really that great everyone just creams their pants for him

^ above words are full truths from a hip hop connoisseur feel free to talk to me all day about hip hop if you wish to get educated

you are so mainstream it hurts; the fact that you would even check out either of those records with scrutiny makes me squint my eyes like fry son

like fry son

(most) mainstream artists fail to speak with substance, lack that flow, beats without soul.  not even a hipster statement but truth.

it would be a diff case if you said the joy was the only good song on that kanye album because it is; only because he sampled curtis mayfield which owns

that jayzkanye album isnt awful its just not noteworthy

real hip hop, an upcoming artist that shows promise:

Kendrick Lamar 'HiiiPOWER' OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO

lol

im not trying to act like some hip hop snob you just gotta check out more stuff man bc jay-z and related artists are BAD

and even though they say music taste is individual im pretty sure anyone can agree that listening to someone talk about money n bitchez n droogz over a shitty beat might make you a little bit stupider

i hope you learned something from this post because it will probably be the longest post i will make all year

it makes me sad jokerr and cody barely post in this thread if at all because they knew... they knew Sad

edited with less hyperbole

Add me on steam Geoff, I love talkin' about hiphop.

But yeah, its true that most mainstream artists don't show the same amount of soul, flow, and substance.

As for Kanye, I'm not sure. I can't really say his music got worse, rather that the music just plain changed after graduation. 808's was only good to listen to when I was slightly depressed. Dark fantasy was very musical and artistic, but not much soul at all. Great beats though. By the way, you hear "mamas boyfriend?" That song really reminded me of his earlier days, and that's pleasant.

Jay-Z, I'm not sure. Everyone around me hates him, but I like him. I like his flow (in royce's book on rap, He classified his as a "master flow" because he can rap on anything, any speed, blah blah)  , and he's def better than the artists they recommended me in return. He's not the best, but he's far from the worse.

@Kendrick Lamar Video: Love it. J. Cole produced? I knew J.Cole was good but... Nice!

@Strange Fruit Project: I want a DL link for it maaaan. That was fantastic. Flow, production, lyrics, everything. CanIHazDL4Everything? Big GrinDD

The thing about the Jay being bad, opinion is yours, and I'll let you keep that. But not all of Jay's stuff is about bitches, hoes, and money you know. "Minority Report" was alright to me, 99 Problems was just fantastic story telling (2nd verse <3). And for some of those stuff about success and whatnot, nothing wrong with hearing about some of that Tongue

As for being mainstream... At least I'm not the mainstream repping a rapper like say... Rick Ross, or Lil Wayne.

Rick Ross in "Tupac Back" : "Brenda's Havin my baby!" <--- SOMEONE DIDN'T LISTEN TO BRENDA'S GOT A BABY

Edit: What label is Kendrick being signed on? If J.Cole is helping him out, does that mean he's getting on roc?

Adele might be mainstream and whatnot, but her voice does have uncommon power and soul.

Hollywood Undead is the preferred music to roll out the wire to.

That and Breaking Benjamin.

Yes, we did directly wire an iPod into the intercom.Â
