One had already seen it, one absolutely loved it (because he's become some uber-green lets all stop burning gasoline thing), one thought it was too predictable, one wanted to play videogames and wouldn't shut up, and the other didn't really like it and also wouldn't shut up. The last person liked it but didn't say any more than that.

I posted that I'd seen it on Facebook and a random Subaru-friend liked it, and it turns out he's a huge fan (and he happens to have a gray/orange crowbar that says "Black Mesa something institute" on it).

He recommended Memories and Grave of the Fireflies. Are these worth seeing? I'm not much of an anime guy other than Miyazaki.
uh i think i heard those movies were good

also lol dub

Dunno about those two, but I've been watching this series called Fractale. The animation is beautiful and story is this mix of old style, but future tech in a way, but would be hard-pressed to call it "scifi". It's only 4 episodes in right now, but it definitely has this strong Miyazaki vibe coming from it. If you have a moment, at least check out the first episode. Funimation has the entire series as its airing so far on their youtube channel.

Ok Level E is incredibly gay.

Yet I'm still watching it.
ep 3 was what made me go holy shit this owns
Grave of the Fireflies is about kids whose city gets firebombed.
It's heartbreakingly beautiful. Bring tissues, cause even if you're a manly man, you might, um, get some dust in your eye. 5/5
Memories is like Animatrix: if you think it sucks, give it 20 minutes and you'll have another film in another style.  4/5
holy shit, also madoka ep 3 spoilers

Just finished Umineko No Naku Koro Ni. T'was good, suffered a bit from the same odd faces as Higurashi at times, but I liked it. They better make a 2nd season after leaving a cliff-hanger like that.
