[/quote]The original anime was being made while the manga was still going on. The creator requested that they go about the anime in a different way while she was still finishing the manga. The story is the same up until the episode where [spoiler]Hughes dies[/spoiler] then it splits off. It also goes through things a lot faster because they're assuming you watched the previous series.
Also One Piece anime is going to hit the timeskip finally, they just played the final episode of that arc where Luffy puts his straw hat away while he trains for 2 years. I wonder if they're going to give the animation a new style or not, like they did for Naruto. I just hope they don't do fillers.
