They are poor?!?!?!?!

Shit I need to buy more stuff from them.
Savage uses same Gmail theme I do =o
Does anyone happen to have Saxon Hale/Mann Co's address? The comic update they posted recently makes me want to mail to it, since they mention how they're going to ask him for something no matter the cost... maybe free stuff again?

Me thinks the announcer's assistant is the pyro.

More importantly, I think the Soldier/Demo update is on the horizon.
I think they will be tracking kills for blu soldier and red demo against each other to see who gets new stuff first. Something nifty like that at least.

Karth definitely believes one of these are true.

I think the comic confirms Baskeball and Vegas as official maps. Check out the pictures on page 3

Somebody hasn't been paying attention since the Halloween update.
Uh, pretty sure them being poor was part of the joke. Why would making TF2 randomly really cheap make them poor?

It's a business thing, if and when you have too much of one thing (although this doesn't make sense for valve since they essentially have unlimited copies of tf2) you will run a really good deal on something just to get rid of it. This usually happens when taxes come around (since you get taxed on individual stock), or when the store needs cash. Typically, the first one happens for smaller businesses, while the second happens for any business.
valve just wants to have the largest playerbase in the world
I remember reading an article (on kotaku maybe?) about how even after one of the steam deals returns to regular price they see an increase in sales.

Makes sense since if people barely missed the sale and get attached to the idea of buying it, they'll likely just be like "Oh well. I missed the deal but I HAVE to play this. BUY!"
Yea I doubt they are actually poor, but may not have had or still not have the amount of liquid cash they want right now/then...

my guess is they needed a boost, realized how well it worked and decided to do it again...bc.. why not make more moneys
They sold a million copies of L4D2 for 360 alone already, and they get some level of cut of everything they sell on Steam.  I think they're doing OK ;P.

Plus CSS, TF2 and L4D have barely ever left the top sellers list for like since i joined steam. They probably just need more to fill their pool of hundreds
