If your internet goes out, you won't be able to play prey anyways. :X

false.

Does Steam not require internets even force non-internet games?

But to go offline, you have to be online.  So unless you already know that you're not going to have internet soon, it's kinda useless.

No, I've had it ask me to go offline when I had no connection and managed todo it.

no, when there is no connection after steam tries to connect it asks if you want to go into offline mode. how long have you guys been using Steam again?

edit: I just reiterated what Coppa said.

double edit: to make post relevant to the thread...how good is SH:H on the PC? Going to buy Jade Empire..probably..
yeah, you definitely have to have logged in before offline mode though.

Directly from the Steam website:

Offline Mode allows you to play games through Steam without reconnecting to the Steam Network every time you wish to play - this is particularly useful if you do not plan on playing over the internet and would prefer not to download new updates for your single-player games.

Right. If you've read the computers thread, you know that my connection was out for 3-4 days a little while ago. I played through all of Mass Effect through steam without issue in offline mode. Clearly no TF2 or anything, but you can play single-player games just fine.

\/(o_o)\/   Steam needs to get your account data somehow, so you need to have been previously logged in.  It's happened to me before, I had been using offline mode for months on end on an old computer of mine, then somehow it got logged out and wouldn't let me use offline mode.

I believe offline made requires that you have your account login information saved to your computer. That's all.
Nothing interesting today.

Also, avoid Silent Hill Homecoming like the plague. It's nothing like the other ones. It's sorta like what Resi 4 did to the series, but it doesn't fit for Silent Hill. It's not meant to be an action third person shooter. Games are always much scarier when the best weapon you have is a pipe. That's why games like Penumbra and Condemned were so nerve wracking. You're always much more on edge walking though a foggy street when you can't instantly annihilate every monster that walks on screen.

Also, clichéd graveyard scene was horrible.
anyone hear anything good about king arthur rpg? looks like medieval total war with a main character + stats and such, which i like

Yahtzee gave it a bad review, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
