I haven't played it yet, but basically all I hear about it is that it's the closest thing to touching the original Deus Ex and it has slutty vampires in it. Sounds good. Not counting the 33 percent off Summer Sale, the game hasn't gone on sale in years, so it's probably worth buying.

Holy fuck this game is good.  I enjoyed it more than Deus Ex.  Deus Ex has the better story but Bloodlines has much more fun combat and pretty nice graphics.  Just download the fan patch.

[/quote]plus you gotta love the malk dialogue.  Although it's recommended to play one of the other classes first.

[/quote]Agreed, on all counts. Very good game, definitely worth the $5.

[/quote]I don't understand why the publisher doesn't just adopt it as official and release it via steam. The patch, I mean.

discussion about publishers only being interested in spending time on projects that will accrue money ?

from the patch notes:
Code:
To use the patch with the Steam version run the unpatched game once,
then disable "Steam Community In Game" and "Automatic update" before
installing to \steamapps\common\vampire the masquerade - bloodlines.

It doesn't fix the resolution issues, so here's a widescreen patch: http://www.fileplanet.com/156598/150000/...on-Patcher

Code:
Copy the respatcher exe file to the Vampire Bloodlines bin folder, where engine.dll is.
The patcher will modify the engine.dll file, so make a backup copy of the file first, just in case...
Execute the patcher, and a screen will display allowing you to select all the available widescreen
resolutions. But you're not done yet; if you stop there, the game will match your resolution,
but look horrendous.

You need now to go into your vampire\cfg folder. Open up your "autoexec" file in Notepad and put in FOV "70".

Weird, didn't see that.
[/quote]It ends up in your steamapps/common/vampire the masquerade - bloodlines/extras folder, it's not installed by default. So you still need to run it.

Additionally, you may need this memory fix to launch it the first time: http://iain.cx/articles/bloodlines/index.html?part5
This is a hardware deal, but anybody who needs a quick computer upgrade could use it. Tomorrow EVGA will be selling GTX460's for $90. Link below.

Section 8 worth it?
all of my money. mentioned to a friend i want the two dow2 expansions. they go on sale. dammit.
Call of Duty Franchise on sale this weekend. Anyone still play Modern Warefare 2? Considering buying it.
Ultima IV free on GoG today. Go forth and be moral!
Sword of the Stars is $10 on Steam.  It's an excellent turn based 4x game in the style of the Total War games.  Great multiplayer.
Magicka and all DLC 75% off for the rest of the day.  Rather worth it for a funny, quirky game.

Looks interesting enough for $6.24.
Alpha Protocol is 2 dollars right now on Steam.

Edit: It's a sale on all Sega games apparently. So, like, cheap Genesis games too and stuff.

If you want Uncharted 3 multiplayer (full game) for the cost of 30 oz of pop.
