Oblivion GOTY is $8.50 and Morrowind GOTY is $5.00. Both are well worth it.

Thanks for the heads up.  Grabbed Oblivion.  About time I gave it a chance after being a Morrowind fan back in the day.

get mods, the core game is kinda shit tbh

The main problem I had with Oblivion is scaling monsters. I think that is just lazy game making. The whole point of an RPG is to feel like you are becoming a badass.

Good thing Martigen's Monster Mod exists, best damn mod ever.  Something like 200+ new creatures and/or creature types within the same "race" of animal, AI where creatures hunt each other, some areas and dungions get much tougher creatures than others, etc.

That's kind of the whole point, difficulty of areas should not be flat, there should be some areas you go as a lower level that you get WTF raped in the face and others where you can walk through like a bad ass stabbing everyone.

I think the moment for me in Oblivion came where I finally got glass armor for my thief and suddenly like every bandit on the road and his mother had a set too. God that was infuriating.
Metro 2033 is 50% off.

Yeah, one of the things I loved about Morrowind was getting my ass kicked, escaping, and coming back later with better weapons/armor at a higher level and kicking ass.
yeah oblivion def needs mods to fix that, or you can be lame and use the leveling trick to stay at level 1
I'm sorry to run this thread off-course again (like with Sins), but could you guys let me know of some must-have mods for Oblivion then?  From what I've read from you guys, I definetly should start tweaking things now.
some sort of combat mod, deadly reflexes or something violence (forgot its name), a leveling mod (oblivion xp is what i used i think) and MMM should be fine for the first playthrough, then theres some major mods that add tons of new land (the desert land mod being one) for your second playthrough
too bad i cant run metro, id buy it in a heartbeat
How is Metro. I was going to get it and then I started thinking wait is this game any good?
Here is a good, very recent guide on making Oblivion look really, really good.

http://deadendthrills.com/guides/look-go...-oblivion/

Now that I have all that settled I need to get the gameplay mods.
idk man i thought it looked pretty good on its own but w/e i guess

Yea but on a high end rig it can look really dated, and really sparse.

At a bare minimum:

Oblivion Mod Manager
Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul
Unofficial Patches
AFLevelMod
ArmoryLab
Expanded Hotkeys
Quest Award Leveller
Definitely get a stealth mod

i dunno i didnt have any issues with stealth, people complain about psychic guards which is true in the sense that they ALWAYS know when you pick pocketed someone but otherwise if you dont alert anybody guards wont come
all i know is i crafted everything i found into potions and jesus i got raped by monsters really fast when i became a master potion-nerd, whatever that skill was called. I think i'll buy it and give it a go again with some of these mods, they sound p good

Thieves were so fun to play as, I remember going to a town and stealing everything in one house and dumping all the stuff with no value in a fountain.

ya it kinda sucks without mods and theres some to make alchemy not worthless at low levels (iirc you cant make health pots till like level 75 and the materials to make em are super fuckin rare which makes the whole skill kinda useless)
wait so what should I buy?
