Not yet my son, you have yet to learn the true meaning of ownage. To do this you must first defeat your inner noob.
Meh.

Been tempted with putting some cash to get Akali. I guess I'm going to farm IP.
Ive been considering getting the retail collector pack(which is $20) and using the $10 worth of rp it comes with to buy another champ(akali). Because to buy akali alone would cost $10 Tongue
So are there any key things I should keep in mind the tutorial doesn't really cover? I hear a lot of jargon about the game but I've never played DOTA and at least in my first couple of games everyone's sucked bad enough that it doesn't matter.
One of the big keys to this type of game is map awareness. Don't get into the habit of developing tunnel vision. Always take the time to check the mini map and do it often.  This allows you to know which champs are where, and that allows you to know things like were you should or shouldn't go.  For example if you look on the map and don't see enemy champions, you'll know it's probably not a good time to be pushing a lane all by yourself. It's a simple skill that has no player should ever forget. Also just in case your teammates lack this skill, let them know when you see champions missing by typing in chat "garen is mia" etc.
I play quite a bit, good game. Add me: Watermelon Jack.

Vision wards are super important, don't go for all out dps over survival, but most of all don't feed the enemy.

I don't even know what feed or a vision ward is as they weren't in the tutorial. That tutorial kinda sucks ass actually.

Feed = let them kill you a lot.  Vision ward is an item you can buy, you place it somewhere and you get vision there for 4 minutes.

Also another thing for those starting out, the recommended item builds are not always a good idea.
If you want to look up item builds or learn how to play a specific champ check out this website.
Always get a potion at the start of the game.
Are Vision Wards team-limited in LoL? If so, and you're not completely familiar with them, don't get any if other people are placing them. You don't want to make a bad place and end up wasting one for your team. Hah they're not. Go ahead and drop a bunch of them.

Especially, NEVER don't place a Sight Ward (the non-invisible seeing ones) in a lane. Sight range and regular creep movement make SW places there a large waste. VWs are better for this task since they can see invisible.

(I'm still pulling quite a bit from HoN so I don't factor brushes. If you wanted to see into a lane you weren't near, you placed it in the jungle so you could see into there, too)
do vision ward things see stuff in grass then?
<3 Katarina.  Went 8/0/3 last game.  Her only downside that I can see is that she's shit at jungling.

if you place them in the grass
Sion could be a decent tank to use.

Too bad he doesn't have any taunts.

Is he part of any bundle?

AP sion is way more fun to play though. If you build it right he can do pretty beastly damage since his spells have a 1:1 damage bonus ratio with ap.
